I thought we might see CP West in here off the decent return effort at GP.

Buffymommy 04-17-2007 08:42 AM

Cool got one in this race for the RTTR contest.

Looks like an interesting race already, even if just the "likely" horses show up. Belgravia obviously liked the synthetic oval a bit last year and his connections are rolling right now. Joe Got Even is a real Polytrack freak, and I'm surely interested in seeing anybody from the Lane's End run back. Albertus Maximus beat the highly regarded Pavarotti in a nice maiden special weight win last month at Santa Anita and Slew's Tizzy has a win over the Polytrack already this winter. Soaring By ran terribly in the Lousiana Derby because he lost it before the race even started, then came back to run nicely on the Fla Derby undercard. I have a feeling he will like the Polytrack given the hint of turf in his pedigree.

He didn't even nominate. Withers maybe?

Interesting that they are listing Xchanger as one of the probables. He still hasn't worked since the 4th. Not sure what is going on there.

Where is the Trust Your Luck horse that ran second to Dominican in the Rushaway? Seems like this would be a no brainer spot for him.

You know this race will have the existing bubble horses sweating it out.

He's going in the Forerunner at Keeneland Thursday, last I heard.

Interesting they didn't nominate. Was he nominated for the Blue Grass?
A lot of tracks have their Derby preps as a nomination "package" (i.e., you nominate for the Fla Derby, it also includes the Holy Bull and FoY. Might not be the case @ KEE.

No package deal at Keeneland.

I was impressed with Albertus Maximus' win at SA.

NTRA.com site has this

Besides Belgravia, Keeneland officials are expecting another seven to 11 starters for the $325,000 Lexington.

The 3-year-olds considered definite are Albertus Maximus, Forty Grams, Joe Got Even, Slew's Tizzy, Soaring By, Starbase, and Xchanger.

Possible starters include Boogiemanball, Moyer's Pond, Sacrifice Bunt, and Wafi City.

No Chelokee? Is Matz going to take him to the Peter Pan?

He's likely to get in the Derby.

I didn't even seem him on the Graded Earnings list that was updated yesterday. I would like to see him in the Derby, but it just seems too much has to happen to get him in...

Depends what happens in the Lexington but I'd say it is about 60/40 for him right now. Matz doesn't want to run him back and then not have him ready for the Derby anyways so he'll wait it out and see if he gets in. I think he will as I think something is wrong with Xchanger (besides being slow). I think there is no way Officer Rocket goes and a solid chance that either Sedgefield or Storm in May opt out.

WTF!!!!!

Equirace.com didn't nominate Love Dubai?
Don't they know this is pretty much the last chance to get those much needed graded earnings? Sombody go alert the connections of this horse that they should run again this week and make it 3 races in 3 weeks. They must be holding out for the Derby Trial and then wheeling the horse back in the derby.... clever buggers

I think Chelokee gets in the Derby.
Does anyone know how many entires in the Lexington this year are actually running with the intention on wheeling back in the Derby in two weeks if they get the graded earnings?
It doesn't have the feel of a race that features desperate owners trying to get their horse to derby this year. I assume Belgravia would go, as it appears Biacone was pretty hell bent on trying to get Time Squared in last weekend.

Soaring By is the only one I know that the connections definitely want to get him in the Derby. Belgravia will not run in the Derby win or lose so I'll be rooting for him to win with a horse with zero earnings coming in second.
