Keeneland 2nd race yesterday

Am I missing something, but how did the 8 horse not come down in the 2nd at Keeneland yesterday? He ran into the grandstand and then cut back across the track and onto the turf course - he was all over the place. I am just wondering why in the world he wasn't taken down.

I am glad to see someone else asking this question. I have never seen anything like this. The winner greatly interferred with at least three horses. First driving two horses out, then ducking in and taking out another horse.

There was an inquiry, no objections, and no change to the order.

Any other track this would have been an automatic takedown imo. I have seen so many minor bumping incidents resulting in disqualifications that its unimaginable how this one could stand.

It did cause my Pk4 ticket to bomb out, but that ticket was dead on the next race anyway, so it really in the end didn't matter to me.

I was left wondering what a horse would have to do to get taken down there.

Yeah, I was surprised they kept him up too.. he was all over the place in the stretch.. I only saw the head-on, but it looked like he bothered at least 1 horse.

It feels like there should have been an inquiry, though the pan is worse than the head on, and it is debatable how much he interfered with anyone. But, I've seen less come down.....I guess. I think the supposed interference is mostly illusionary.

I'm all for less takedowns.

There was a horse disqualified from 2nd place yesterday at KEE, wore saddlecloth #4 I believe....it was a monumentally bad takedown in my opinion.

Yes its always debatable, the actual amount of interference. But what is shocking to me is the lack of consistency applied across the country, when it comes to the criteria that is used to determine a DQ.

How often have you seen a winner get taken down for slightly bumping a backpedaling leader as he goes by? Especially if the jockey on the backpedlaing horse stands up and checks hard. we had some great actors out here at Arlington last year that should have won academy awards for their performances.:)

Like a soccer player trying to draw a foul by doing a flop, same thing!

I agree. It was in the 4th and cost me an exacta.

Looked to me like there was no contact. The 4 horse veered in, but was clear of the horse behind.

I'm glad he wasn't since I had him singled in the DD. However, I would've sold the ticket really cheap after they crossed the line. That was the only thing that went my way yesterday. J Lep. in the last losing the photo cost me the P4 and a better P3. I can't get on the same page with him. Sat. I had a win bet on a 19-1 and he nosed me. Last week I had $50 on a 14-1 and he nails me on the final jump........ DAMN THE FRENCH!

Yeah that last race cost me the pick4 as well, I was pretty pissed.

I had forgot about the 4th race! How in the world do they take that horse down but let the horse in the 2nd race stay on top?????? That 2nd race was unbelievable. He bothered at least 3 different horses. The other horses were bolting away from him like a fat kid running from vegetables. I just was in shock when they didn't take him down and for the life of me can't figure this one out.

This is a dramatic overreaction to what actually took place. A couple horses shied from him. There should have been an inquiry but it was hardly a major incident.

I agree. There was actually no contact. What's unclear, however, if if the jockey hit the horse to his inside with his whip (when he initially pulled it and subsequently) or just intimidated it. (this is before he veered in).

I couldn't tell on the whip. I guess you could say he intimidated the horse ( or horses ) but there was certainly no contact.
