Boca Grande!!!

The Big A .. Gr. 2 The Comely... Avg. field.. good race !
Mike Smith stayed in N.Y. to ride her. I guess that's all we needed to know.

I will admit that I don't think Boca Grande is much horse at all, and even though I thought the Comely was a very weak field on paper, I vowed to take employment at Taco Bell if she won the race.

While I was wrong about her chances, her victory was remarkably unimpressive when you look at her trip/performance.

She broke perfectly from stall four, and raced comfortably in 2nd place through very slow early factions of 23.75 and 47.29. By comparison, NY Bred 3yo MCL's set fractions of 23.22 and 46.73 in the very next race!

Boca Grande overpowered the Pletcher runner, who ran terrible, on the turn....and won in a final time of 1:36.54 By comparison, a 35K claimer, taken off the turf, was run in 1:35.89 in race 4. Meanwhile, a NY-Bred N1X allowance, also taken off-the-turf, in race #6 was run in 1:36.66

Boca Grande makes Smuggler and Pine Island look like Inside Information and Heavenly Prize.

And if anyone is looking for a Chalupa, and are curious as to which location to find me at, just know that I am not a man of my word.....

The most impressive thing about that race. My OTB account grew by 350 bucks. Other than that, your dead on.

:)
