Alfredo Clemente

I may be the only one who cares one iota about this, but can anyone explain how jockey Alfredo Clemente rode at Tampa at 2:50pm, then Gulfstream at 3:25pm, then back at Tampa at 4:19pm?? Now I realize there is such a thing as a helicopter, but is Alfredo Clemente in that much demand? None of his 3 horses even earned a check!

I guess I was the only one even slightly interested in this:o

Golfer please note that Alfredo Clemente rode at TBD today and Alfredo V. Clemente rode at GP. Two different jocks that are most likely related. You know kinda like the George Foreman thing, just different middle names.

Thanks, Gus.. that makes alot more sense than my helicopter theory... the equibase charts don't bother with minor details like a middle initial. The only reason I even brought this up is because I loved A V Clemente's horse in the 6th at Gulf, only to watch him gap the field the entire race:mad: What added to my confusion is that both have similar riding styles:rolleyes: that is they tend to finish behind many horses! This was my last foray into "Calder at Gulfstream"!!

Gus, on a completely different note, what did you think of the ride Melancon gave Highest Degree yesterday?

It's funny you mention Highest Degree out of nowhere because I have followed his career closely. I was at GP on FOY day and bet him in the ALW race where Chelokee won. He was 10-1 that afternoon and didn't fire. I know McPeek thought highly of him and he was starting with blinkers for the 1st time. As far as Melancon's ride on 4/14 at KEE, he broke alertly but didn't have enough speed to clear and got bumped in the clubhouse turn. He reacted negatively to the bump and Melancon had to pull him inside because he was headed towards the barn. Melancon was able to get him back on track (literally) and made a middle move because the fractions were pedestrian like. He came up empty in the final furlong mainly because of the energy he exerted on the 1st turn IMO. I know it was his 1st time riding him, but I don't blame him for the dull effort.

Gus, I am not so sure he didn't fire inn the chelokee race. he was moving well with chelokee then got taken 8 wide by another horse. The problem with Mcpeek is he talks up all of his horses. It's funny how much Helen Pitts is better than him. Oh well, maybe he will win some races down here @ Ky Downs.
