He looked like his usual consistent self today.
I hope he somehow manages to put together a good enough year to run in his 83rd straight BCC.

Hey...he was in the 2002 BCC...so that would be....6 years????? WOWW

So if he goes this year it would be the 7th year!! He should get some award for that :D

call me crazy, but i think he will have a more productive year this year then he has had in the past few, i think he will win a couple races this year

I love Perfect Drift, but just curious as to why you think that? The horse is always productive BTW... he brings home a nice paycheck each time (normally) and at his age, that's probably the most you could ask of him. I don't see him being any better than last year.

there is not much in the division this year, invasor and then who else ?

That doesn't make him run any better, though. He'll run the same as always... I didn't think the older division was all that impressive last year, either.

because he will be pointed to g 2&3'S and maybe 1 grade 1 -the foster. the 2 &3's should give him a better chance to get a couple-even tho he was sick in last years bc classic and placed 8th i feel we will not see him at the breeders cup anymore. 1 1/8 and he woulda caught stream cat. it was a good run all things considered, hes just lacking the faster early break and being closer to the lead earlier in the race, but im thinking old age is part to do with that.when he gets behind early he runs out of ground at the end and:)

he wasnt flat, he was picking up steam got stopped a little and regrouped and came home strong another 1/16 and he just nails stream cat 1/4 and he blows by him

I could care less if horses like Perfect Drift, Funny Cide, Evening Attire etc etc make any money. I think it is simply wonderful that people get to see these horses run year after year. Keep it going old men of racing.

I'm not sure if you got my point or not, lol, because I'm not all here right now, but my meaning behind Seek Gold is that no matter how good Perfect Drift is compared to a competitor, he'll be perfectly content to run behind him or next to him. He's not the kind of horse who will dig in when a competitor comes to him and he's not the kind of horse who wants to run away from a field.

I have to disagree with you there. If they aren't making ANY money, that means they aren't being competitive. If that were to happen consistently, then I don't think it would be "simply wonderful" to see horses of their quality struggling and finishing off the board in race after race. It would instead be quite sad.
I say as long as they are making decent money, they are competitve....and that is fun to see.

Money isnt the end of all in horse racing. The fact that they horse makes it to the gate is enough for me. It is good for the sport and good for history.

Do you really think it would be good for the sport if - in a year or so - horses like Funny Cide and/or Perfect Drift were dropped into cheap claiming races and still failed to hit the board?
Just "making it to the gate" is not enough. These horses are/were great competitors and deserve more than to be treated like that.
Right now they are (thankfully) still quite competitive so it isn't a problem, but I hope that when their days of being competitive are over, their connections don't disregard what is in their horses' best interest (like you apparently want them to do) and instead know when to retire the horses. I am confident that PD's connections will do right by their horse. I am less confident in FC's owners.
