They had no choice once the sponsors withdrew, bottom line...we are all responsible for our actions, his remarks had consequences!

I want to see Sharpton and Jackson going down to North Carolina and apologize to those kids from Duke who they had guilty before any evidence came out. It's 1/9 that they won't do that.

Hoss: Imus apologized and took alot of verbal shots from just about everybody in reach of a microphone. He did what was expected of him,was suspended and fired. Irregardless of the facts that his words were bigotry or a bad joke(see John Kerry) he was punished far beyond the worth of the crime. The man has contributed and raised millions for kids, and I daresay none of us has done that....and WE still put up with each other!

Whoever was doing the PR for Imus needs to be knocked out and curb stomped for allowing him to go on Sharpton's show.

Timm I agree that in the grand scheme of things he doesn't deserve what is happening. (or maybe he does) I don't think it's a racist thing, I think it's a judgement thing. But where you lose me on this is the fact that he has raised some charity money doesn't discount the fact that he is a top shelf jerk. So would I dare say Karma is a biotch.

One of the sad things is that Imus had Harold Ford from Tennesee on many times and praised him to no end. When they ran negative ads towards Ford during his senatorial campaign Imus defended him and worked hard to try and get him elected.Harold Ford was missing in action during this whole period.Harold Ford is an Afro-American and even had he called up to ridicule Imus that would of been good.Instead he had no guts. The people of Tennesee made the right shoice in not electing him.You need someone with backbone in office.

agreed. but in support of what I just said, I think it was as simple as Imus thinking he can go talk to the Reverend Al and all will be forgiven. Not that easy big fella...

Hickory Hill Hoff 04-12-2007 06:04 PM

This might sound mean...but if I was Imus, I would cancel that meeting with the Rutgers team...he doesn't owe ANYTHING to anyone anymore. THEY accomplished what they wanted! With help from the two "so-called" reverends.
This is just MY opinion...not the boards.

Sam: you have to read the whole post, buddy. I daresay Imus has impacted the country far more than most of the people who were calling for his hide. He wasn't elected,so the electorate has no beef. His employers chose to cave on him even though he brings in 20% of their revenue. Rutgers girls met with him and he apologized. What's next?...sackcloth and ashes? It's just so much overkill to me..and I don't listen to his show! As far as his comments about women in general.....NOBODY tops Stern as far as degrading women...and he's freakin rich now. I personally think a persons' IQ is diminished after listening to that Pig!

My point was going on Sharpton and apologizing to everyone, basically was an admittance that he had done something wrong. Why go on Sharpton and let him rip into you. What does anyone owe Al Sharpton? NOTHING. Hasn't Imus said much worse than this? I think he should have stood tough and his employers should have followed him. Too bad neither did.

Well said...I agree!

Never liked "I'm a wuss in the morning"

If any member of the "protected" peoples would have said what I'm-A-wuss said, there wouldn't have been a peep.

I was driving back from Lexington today and was listening to the Herd on ESPN - saying that Imus is a jerk. He is difficult and not nice to anyone that can't get him something. I'm really surprised that he didn't get a pass. He voted for Hillary and raised a bunch of money for her camapign to get the nomination over Iraq Hussein Osama

Okay, I guess I misunderstood what you were trying to say. I think the difference between Imus and Stern is that Stern is mindless entertainment with virtually no stance or agenda other than exercising his right to entertain people as he so chooses. Imus on the other hand is all about the agenda and stance and I think that's where they differ. I don't listen to either show, but did listen to Stern every once in awhile on the way to work.

Okie-Dokie! You mentioned karma....if there was a scale.....Imus would be way ahead of Stern due to his unceasing efforts on behalf of kids. Stern's main agenda is to promote pornstars, at least it was the last time I heard him on the guys' radios in the warehouse.

And how is it that a black comedian or any black person for that matter can stand up and degrade their own ethnic group along with women and it be ok ?
This Hip Hop generation can call each other things in the press and on t.v. and so on but if a white person says something that doesnt sit just right , well hell lets string em up.
Its just frikin stupid.
