Les Grand Trois

For me this was the most disapointing performance of the week-end.Has there been any valid excuses? The horse looked to have the perfect trip and everything his way untill he was asked to run and then nothing.

King Glorious 04-09-2007 10:46 AM

I agree. His start didn't help him but I thought he had recovered fast enough and gotten himself in perfect position to win if he was good enough. He wasn't on this day.

Coach Pants 04-09-2007 10:48 AM

Horses from Cali suck? I can't wait until/if Magnificience ships east.

ArlJim78 04-09-2007 10:53 AM

He faced better horses and a hotter pace than he has in in first two races. The result was that he didn't have much left in the stretch.
I wasn't surprised at all with his third place finish

I think Magnificience is 100% the real deal, she is awesome. As for Le Gran Trois, he did not have a perfect trip in my opinion if anything he had a pretty bad trip, but to me how was he disapointing ? It was only his third career start he had a maiden and allowance win under his belt, he was only disapointing because everyone hyped him up so much, he has beat no one in his career coming into saturday and for him to be 3-5 was crazy, even when i played my pick 4 saturday i went 3 deep in the race thinking Le Gran Trois was beatable.

Yeah it'll be interesting to see if Magnificience is the real deal. I know if I were a trainer with an in-law on the state racing board that chances are my horses would be whoopin ass on the home track. Consider me suspect of this horse outside of Cali.

numbers wise she blows every other 3yr old filly away, including rags to riches, not to mention she has been as visually impressive as they come.

I have a feeling we'll never know how good she is because Headley won't ship her. He knows where his bread is buttered.

jpops757 04-09-2007 11:07 AM

With the bad start LGT was there comming for home and nothing. With the talent I was expecting he should have bloew by them. I just probably over estimated this horse. I didnt see any thing to make me think that this was a instance where LGT lost and under performed. If the bad start is the excuse then it exposes him to be less talented than I expected.

lemoncrush 04-09-2007 11:17 AM

LEs Grand Trois broke his maiden at Belmont, so he's not a california horse, per say. I didn't like his race at all Saturday, despite the inside trip where he had to check a couple times, he had a chance to win and didn't.

And you're right, Headly isn't shipping magnificence. I think she's running in the 2nd week of May at Hollywood in a Grade III.

I don't know if anyone will agree, but I thought Les Grands Trois looked physically awkward the entire race- he definitely didn't show the same action as he did in his debut, and his head carriage seemed oddly high.

I think he had a fairly poor ride, but that being said, he didn't look good enough to win on that day anyway.

Let's wait to annoint her the "real deal" after she runs in a route race...You will be hard pressed to find a bigger fan of this filly, but until she goes the distance, its a wait and see approach..I know Headley made some comments about her liking some extra distance, but of course, that's just trainer speak...Time will tell, and when is all said and done, we could have something special here..

ok i see what your saYING, but at this point i have to look at her as the best 3yr old filly in america and i dont think anyone is close, not even rags to riches, she has the top beyer of any 3 yr old male or female, she has so far been a freak and there is nothing to say she wont move on and improve more

Sinister Minister had the privilege of that same honor last year.(although it was poly) I wouldnt rank him amongst the top 20 3 yr olds from last year...Magnificience has the look of a champion, but we won't know for sure what type of animal she is until she stretches out..

Sinister Ministers number was on the dirt.

The poly didn't go on until the fall meet.

i think alot of ppl would agree sinister minister and this filly is a total different story, sinister minister had really dont nothing up to the bluegrass he freaked out that day, and since that day he has done nothing

They are different... WHich is why Beyer figures should hold little weight when it's a race under 8 panels..imo

POINTGIVEN1985 04-09-2007 06:11 PM

well i have seen almost every race by every 3 yr old this year and while this is a very solid group i think there are only 2 very good horse and thats nobiz and street sense i think the filly Magnificience would be competitive vs any 3 yr old including the big 2 that i just mentioned, and as for the 3yr old fillys i think shes far and away the best.
