Lawyer Ron

I'm curious to read some opinions about LR's race today. I watched the replay and I thought that he rated nicely for Edgar and finished well. I liked LR last year and was hoping to see him do well this year, even if it is only in Gr2 up to 9F. I really think the Met Mile would suit him and maybe the Whitney in August.

Moving him to Pletcher and getting him to rate makes him a top 5 handicap horse. I agree mile may be ideal distance but more money in the longer routes.

I just watched the replay and thought the same thing. I haven't been a big Lawyer Ron fan but I do think he rated well today and looked relaxed.

While he ran well today and the handicap division may be as thin and weak as it ever has been I will need to see it in a little better competition that this bunch of goats.

I agree with Chuck. I didn't like how he looked galloping out, but I think that Edgar is a good fit for him. He seemed more relaxed.

Just happy to see a nice 3 year old from last year running as a 4 year old!

Yeah right after you say that he'll be heading for the Breeders right now.

There has never been much question that the talent is there with him. He's just been his own worst enemy too often. We'll see if he's able to be controlled better this year but truth be told, there just aren't any good horses out there this year. The best ones, Discreet Cat, Invasor, Lava Man, and Premium Tap all just ran in Dubai and will be out for a little while. Even when they do return, Discreet Cat will probably be aimed for shorter races and Lava Man will be pointed to the grass and Invasor may only race 3-4 more times. So the doors are wide open for the next level of horses to sneak in and take some of the bigger prizes now. Say for instance that Lava Man is not in the Hollywood Gold Cup. Didn't Lawyer Ron just totally handle some of the same horses that LM did? Maybe 10f isn't his best distance but could any of u see any of them beating LM in the Hollywood Gold Cup? I can't. Who else is out there? Arson Squad? Brother Derek? Please.

It was thiner and weaker at this time last year....in fact, last winter was the absolute worst the older male division has ever been in all my time following racing.
