i dont like him, hes running in the santa anita derby tiago is he needs to run big there or he wont be in, actually he needs to run huge there, but the field is weak and he could have a chance

Why? He wired a small field with no other speed. I think he's an extremely vulnerable favorite at Hawthorne.

I think C.B is a nice horse, but I think he is just to far behind at this point. But I love Merv so it would be nice to see him at the Derby.

Doug O'Neill has told us repeatedly that ultimately, Cobalt Blue is the most talented of the sophomores in his barn. If you're familiar with the back story on Cobalt Blue, you know that Nick Zito was sick about Robert LaPenta not retaining the colt as he thought he was the top prospect in the Saratoga sale two years ago.

Having had a start at 2, Cobalt Blue owns an edge over Curlin and the other late arrivals on the Derby Trail. A win or strong performance at Cicero makes him a very viable alternative to the obvious top contenders come Derby Day. Ignoring this one is a mistake. Too many quality evaluators of horseflesh are sufficiently impressed with him to discount.

If he should fall short of Derby entry, he'll certainly be among the division leaders by the time we get to the Haskell and Travers.

I think Bold Start will look better after the race in the winner's circle.

Now this is laughable (no offense). I like Bold Start but the horse isnt ready yet. I think he needs some more maturity and some more starts. I will like this horse come late summer.

JJP 04-04-2007 11:13 PM

There are no world beaters in that field and that includes Cobalt Blue. The trainers and horsemen may love him but I wasn't particularly impressed by that last race. I thought Air Commander ran a better race.

As for Bold Start, he got into enough traffic and had to switch to the outside and still damn near ran down King of the Roxy.

Gotta say I do enjoy seeing Merv on tv showing clips of horse races like he did with Cobalt Blue on Craig Ferguson. If they're smart they won't just sit back and watch Merv race them, they'll pick his brain on new things to do--this guy knows media.

I love it when people say no offense, when you really mean to offend.

I knew you would be back, what's up Eurobounce Kycherub?

Let's see what CB does next, his last was a little too easy on the front end.

lol i keep hearing his last on the front was too easy and it seems nobody wants 2 give the horse any credit yet. well the horse doesnt need the front to win! even if hes triumphant saturday i still think people will be hesitant since unfortunately our states derby doesnt draw the a list overall as far as the division is concerned
