Yesterday at S.A.

I forgot to mention this last night, but I wasn't happy with Ron McAnally yesterday. He's the trainer of Taikun, the Aussie Bred who was pulled up and fell over the rail goin down the hill yesterday in S.A.'s 6th race. The equibase chart says he bled, was pulled up, and then fell over the rail.

But in his last race he was pulled up too. He had been running in allowances and low-level stakes events, and then he was entered in this claiming race as the favorite based on the class-drop. I should've seen it coming that he was gonna be pulled up again. I get the feeling McAnally knew it too... It's just another reminder that in the $$$ is the most important thing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but based on the race before yesterday, Taikun was in trouble. It's something that happens too often... Honu, you got any info on this, anyone else agree, disagree? And what is the status of Taikun today, because it was an ugly fall...

They said he bled from the nose and attempted to jump the rail.

He was a known bleeder in NZ which is why he was sent here. They obviously cant control his bleeding and its ashame they ran him yesterday.

Last I heard he was fine, not seriously injured in the fall

It looked to me that he collapsed into the rail while Gryder was trying to pull him up...it was nasty. Thankfully they weren't injured further.
I pray they retire the ole' boy....he deserves to move on to a less taxing career.

His last two races were the most violent effects of bleeding that I have ever seen in racing. Both times I thought he broke down from a leg injury. He must have been choking real bad on his blood to have that type of reaction. Supposedly Gryder had blood all over his pants.

I wouldnt want to be a jock on any horse in a race he was entered back in. I hope is racing career is over.
