Top Secret Speed

Belmont 9th, another money burning quit job. 7/5 today and was done at the top of the stretch. This horse is a slug. Feel bad for anybody who needed this rat.

Why would you feel bad for anybody that needed that 0-15 maiden who was somehow 7:5?

I hope he keeps running and people keep betting him.

Top Secret Rat

I made a big bet on the 6 ( a mediocre third ) and was shaking my head that Top Secret Speed was 7:5. I almost posted something about it myself and then laughed when I saw that you did. You would think that by start 16 people might have learned.

LOL, I actually bet this slug on Belmont Stakes Day in the last race when he was 7/2. Same kind of crap he pulled today. Had a brief lead and quit like he was shot. I bet him once before that too like 4 races back when he ran 2nd at 6/5, the start before he tried the turf. That 2nd place finish that day cost me a huge pick opportunity as I had Lake's 25/1 shot in the very next race then Miraculous Miss in the feature.

blackthroatedwind 06-23-2006 06:54 PM

To me, when I see Top Secret Speed, I just pitch him and move on. I honestly thought the winner of his last race, on Belmont Day, should have been the favorite and managed to dig half-way out of a horrible betting day because of him.

Lake just doesn't seem to have that little something extra at Belmont.

"Lake just doesn't seem to have that little something extra at Belmont."

Oh please Tim. Spare me.

Just keeping it real. I doubt Scott Lake does too many things different than the top trainers who the general public seems to get down on their knees for. Not fooled by it.

oracle80 06-24-2006 02:45 PM

Tim thats not keeping it real, its keeping it uuneducated. If thats the case then why is Toods win % about the same across teh board at Del, Mth, Bel, and Cd right now? How come Lakes is way high at Del, Philly, Pim, etc but not in Ny? he also doesnt go out and win grade ones. Comparing the two is insanity.

I dunno, he trains rats like Top Secret Speed, boy that horse a slug! Pletcher is da man. he has so many horses running every day he cant even keep track. I got a friend who had a horse with him bout 4 years ago and she said he never even introduced himself to her and barely knew he trained the horse! Kind of like these big time novelists, some of them dont even write their own books anymore.

Good luck today but I hope you are laying off until Saratoga, Save your money, you'll be glad you did.

Tim I don't like belmont today but i do like a rec or two at Cd and Colonial. I don't have to lay off until saratoga, I simply have to bet the days I like and the tracks on thsoe days. I dont consider Saratoga to be any big deal, its nice to be there, but as far as betting goes its just another day at the races. I don't care what track Im betting so long as I have an opinion and its looks like a good value situation. Belmont is the pits today.

Ya its awful today. What a mess. As far as Churchill goes, I consider that meet dead after Derby Day. I tend to focus more on just NY from Derby through Breeders Cup, with a little Meadowlands sprinkled in during the fall. I like the night action. In the winter its all about Aqu Inner and Santa Anita. Gulfstream is becoming a huge bore save for a few Saturdays early in the meet.
