There will instantly be about ten less bad rides a week in NY.

The fact that she won a ridiculously slow race, where the heavy favorite almost fell down at the break, does not take away from her totally inept riding over the last 10 or so months she has ridden in NY. If you want to see something really comical, check out her performance on Baby Gray on the turf at Belmont in the fall....and then look at the subsequent performances by the horse when she was removed. |
Wasn't she the one who ended up on the ground and they took the picture where she's in a fetal position under the outstretched legs of a running horse? If it's a different jockey I'd love to know who but I seem to remember her name.

That was her. At the Meadowlands. |

I think seeing how difficult it is for women to compete riding at top circuits makes me appreciate Krone a lot more in retrospect. She had some annoying riding habits but she could flat out ride. She is the only woman in this game who rode heads up against the guys and won more than her share. She was TOUGH. |

Wow. Amazing picture. Shocked that a photographer caught that very moment like that...

Undoubtedly the highlight of Chantal's stay was the Saratoga meet of 2005 where she actually rode well. I know I had her at huge numbers more than a few times, of course that was only after I had to convince myself that she was capable.
Stock Tip, World Series, and Square Dancing come to mind. It just seemed like she was never aggressive enough to be successful at Aqueduct and she never really got a feel for Belmont. I'm sure as a rider there are nuances about Belmont that you have to know, but Chantal certainly had enough time to figure it out. Just my $.02. NT |

Diane Nelson isn't nearly as bad as Chantal, et al. She just always had completely inept, hopeless mounts. Chantal just never "got it." I don't know if it was a lack of aggressiveness or instruction or whatever, but when you take back a horse with speed and try to swing wide on the inner, you're going to lose. Simple as that. |
Just me, but I am sad she is leaving. I knew I could always toss any ride she had. If she beat me, so be it, but she hardly ever did.

Definate tosses are what we should look for. All positive, I'll miss the women:) |
