Breeders Cup/Monmouth- Hotels?

I realize this is a LONG way away, but I have noticed that hotel rooms in the Monmouth area are drying up very quickly. Does anyone with more local knowledge have any thoughts on where someone coming in from out of town should look to stay?

Staten Island is a borough of New York. It is about 30-45 minutes away from Monmouth. There are only one or two nice hotels there, but it is in a very convienant area . Of coure N.Y. City is much nicer and has many more nice hotels, but I am guessing the rooms in S.I. should be much cheaper. All three local airports are anywhere from 15 minutes (Newark) to 45 minutes(Laguardia & JFK) away. Depending on traffic that number could be lower, but it could also be much much greater. Also you would only be about 20-30 minutes away from New York City and anywhere from 45-60 minutes away from Belmont Park. Once again traffic in the N.Y. area is a very funny thing and is impossible to predict.

Priceline.com... the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Ok not really but you can get super deals. For Saratoga I used to drive up and back every weekend day, now I do the name your own price, and get a decent hotel for $30 a night + tax for Saturday night. As for Monmouth... try centering your search in New Brunswick, there are several hotels there and it's only about 25 minutes away. The Shore has mostly homes and dumpy hotels, not recommended.

Agree, search the New Brunwick area near Rutgers University. Right off NJ Turnpike (95) or Route 1. Great hotels.:D
