Gorella Retired

TDN announced Gorella has been retired due to a chip in her ankle. No plans announced yet for breeding.

Have a good retirement girl...you should have gone out an Eclipse Winner, but were robbed in my opinion.

Now I am very very sad. Not only did I SUCK this weekend at handicapping, my fave girl has retired. This just sucks!

Booooooo...!

Sad to see her go. She's one of the most exciting turf mares I've seen in awhile. I'm going to go check youtube for her race on Belmont day last summer when she closed like a freighttrain to catch Pommes Frites.

Poop. She's the most visually fascinating and visually exciting horse I've seen in some time.

I was in the paddock on million day and watched her and took pictures of her before and after her race. Its the first time I can say that I was just taken by a horse. She was so good looking and had quite a prescense about her.

Of course what she did on the track that day was brilliant and no one would forget it if you saw it.

Several months ago, we had a discussion about Gorella on another forum (I think you might post there?) and all of the guys said she was really pretty or like you, were 'taken' by her while most of the girls found lots of other horses much prettier...thought it was sorta interesting.

Well I'm generally not what you'd call a "pretty horsie person" so there very well may be many more prettier horses. I am not an authority on that for sure. To me they all look pretty good.

However, there was just something about the way she came prancing into the saddling area that day, she seemed full of herself and like she knew she was a star. She was an eye-catcher that's for sure and stood out from the rest of the group. i think I mentioned this before, but she seemed to have wide hooves and I read somewhere were someone suggested that is a good thing for turf horses.

What a.....

Classy mare, i truly enjoyed watching her 2006 year, her races were very exciting. She was all heart, and it is sad to see her retired, wish her all the best. Can't wait to hear about their breeding intentions for her, could be very exciting little gorella's to come down the road. Thanks for the memories, all the best girl.
