Stormello

I dont know that much about Currin but he was just itchin to go east to the FOY instead of running back in California, just to take on Nobiz? This horse looks to have mucho guts based on his race in December and plenty of speed.

He got choked the first part of the Norfolk and still won that thing going wide. He may be too headstrong and use up too much energy early, but he looks fully capable of giving Nobiz a run to me. I wonder how fit he is right now, he has got to be a handful if Currin is trying like mad to find a flight for him, which apparently he has found.

OK the FOY is looking very interesting I think. We got some up and comers going longer against some more established 3 yo's, if there is such a thing.

The west will be stacked as where the east will have only 3-4 monsters

POINTGIVEN1985 02-28-2007 04:47 PM

stormello is a good horse, but thats where it stops i'd be shocked if he makes the exacta in the fountain of youth

cakes44 02-28-2007 05:11 PM

If Stormello gets rank again and fights his way to the front like his last race, he'll get cooked here.

POINTGIVEN1985 02-28-2007 05:30 PM

i think hes getting cooked anyway you look at it , i think he has a zero percent chance to win this race

scrimshaw 02-28-2007 06:39 PM

What's in a name?

PG1985, it would be ironic if you were to say "Any Given Saturday" had a zero percent chance of winning a race..... To say a horse like Stormello has "zero" chance of winning is just ludacris.

POINTGIVEN1985 02-28-2007 06:43 PM

well i speak the truth and in this race, vs this field he has a zero percent chance to win... if he wins then i look like the biggest fool in the world but he wont win, not in this spot.... im not saying hes not talented, but i am saying he is not good enoughf for this field

O'Neills brother on the facing NOBIZ with one of their derby trail horses.

"Wherever Nobiz Like Shobiz goes, we won't go," Dennis O'Neill said.

Until Derby Day, that is.

Now Currin can't wait to go up against him with Stormello ? I think this guy has some serious issues ! I think his mouth gets ahead of his brain :D

POINTGIVEN1985 02-28-2007 07:55 PM

LISTEN I KNOW im not making any bold prediction or anything i mean we all know nobiz will be something like 1-5, but i just feel that in this spot stormello has zero chance

Stormello has not started since closing out his 2-year-old campaign with a victory in the Grade 1 Hollywood Futurity. Trainer Bill Currin had to go to great lengths to make travel arrangements from the West Coast for Stormello, who finally arrived late Wednesday evening following an arduous 14-hour journey.

"He had a trip from hell," said Currin, shortly after his own arrival in south Florida on Thursday. "If he doesn't run well, I've already got my excuse. But I think he'll be all right."

I dont like this kind of talk. Ive already got an excuse... dont bring the horse then. Why put the horse thru a trip from hell scrambling around at the last minute. I still think the horse is talented and can go far if he can relax.

If Nobiz goes off at 1-5, I will find a horse to bet. There are some other horses in here with a shot. Nobiz draws that much money and I got to get on that. This is the best real prep so far in terms of quality imo.

When you are already getting your excuse ready before a race, never a good sign.

The language that he used of "already having an excuse", is often heard on the 1st tee. Maybe Currin got hit in the head with a golf ball ! He was so full of himself in the winners circle out west when he won, I thought his head might explode. If Stormello wins the FOY, I'll be greatly suprised to put it mildly. Here, O'Neill says he wants no part of NOBIZ and has 3 or 4 good ones to race in the preps, and then there is Currin, who has one horse and is running into a fire. I feel sorry for the horse, who is being fed to the wolves, and is being mishandled.

ManilaRose 03-02-2007 03:54 PM

With the absurd path Currin is taking he'll have more than enough legitimate "excuses" not to run Stormello in the Derby.

hockey2315 03-02-2007 04:06 PM

Currin's head probably won't get any smaller after being pictured on the front of this week's Bloodhorse. . .

slotdirt 03-02-2007 04:12 PM

I'm doubting Nobiz like Shobiz will be 1-5 in a nine horse field featuring some other pretty decent betting choices.

I agree- every "wise guy" in the world will be all over Drums of Thunder. . .

Stormello - Derby Horse

My official Derby horse right now. My only thing is that Currin needs to be CALM and collected and chill out and take his time. One more race, he is already qualified earnings, no need to get crazy and squeeze two races in....Horse has some SERIOUS guts, 23 quarters all the way around will win you the Kentucky Derby and his FINISH OUT was amazing, was up by 5 lengths after the wire.......
