Top CRC Sale Prospect Dead (Hip #10)

A Hartley/DeRenzo Storm Cat colt, pinhooked for $900,000 at last summer's Saratoga Select Yearlings Sale and expected to be among the top sellers next week, collapsed and died Sunday of an apparant heart attack shortly after its' preview workout.

Out of the Gone West mare Gone to the Moon, the colt's female family sparkles having produced Gold Beauty, dam of the great Dayjur and Maplejinsky, who in addition to her own great career on track, dropped Sky Beauty.

? The Dam of Gold Beauty is Stick To Beauty and her sire is Mr. Prospector.

by the way, I am trying to sell a stallion out of a full sister to Gold Beauty (Watch Out) and who is by Danzig. Anyone interested?

Oh I get it, Gold Beauty is the second dam of this colt.

WOW!!!!!
That's terrible news.
I have two that have Dayjur as their grand daddy, Darlin' by Day (2yo) and Daring Day (yearling).
Looks like they'll be shipping to Delaware to the Farrish operation. Not finalized at this point in time.
Shucks about the colt!

Not sure if you are talking about the colt that died or the one you are trying to sell...

After The Green Monkey, and now this, I wonder if buyers will be a little hesitant to bid up a Hartley and DeRenzo prospect

lol mera, good one. chalk another one up for PETA. training and making these youngsters run at these events is not good for their health. i do feel sorry for our equine youngsters, not their connections.

The Bid 03-14-2007 08:36 AM

Nothing better than 2yr olds under tack breezing in 9 seconds flat and being jacked up with juice. I dont feel bad for the consigner at all, you treat these horses how they need to be treated and you wont have 2 year olds dying of heart attacks.

Left Bank 03-14-2007 10:55 AM

I wonder if he died from: A.The eighty pounds of daily steroids he is given.B.Under the knife while getting cosmetic surgery to remove the minor imperfections,or C.Being whipped profusely till he bleeds so he can run in under 21 seconds.? Hmmmmm.

deltagulf 03-14-2007 11:55 AM

like you said its all about the money now. the horses well being is second. i don't feel sorry for the pin hookers either. i feel ready bad for the horses. they should be better cared for. to live a normal life and race for years.

for the record here's the story of the Hold That Tiger colt that collapsed and died too...
