Farewell, Warrsan
A lovely horse, a gallant warrior..... he'll be missed.
English Group I Winner Warrsan Dead Warrsan, a two-time English group I winner and German champion, died June 19 after a short illness following complications from a tumor, reported Sheikh Mohammed's Darley. The 8-year-old Irish-bred son of Caerleon was retired from racing in the spring because of a leg injury. "I would like to thank all those who tried so hard to save him, but unfortunately it was not to be," said breeder/owner Saeed Manana. Warrsan won the 2003-04 Vodafone Coronation Cup (Eng-I) and was a German champion in 2004-05 following a victory each year in the Volkswagen Grosser Preis von Baden (Ger-I). Warrsan also was group I-placed in Hong Kong and Italy and retired with nine wins from 43 starts and earnings of $2,782,877. Produced from the stakes-winning High Line mare Lucayan Princess, Warrsan was a half-brother to German and Italian champion Luso and European group winners Cloud Castle and Needle Gun. |
