Contender/Pretender?? All the talking heads say he can't get the mile 1/4. Am I the only one who thinks he's got a pretty good shot in the derby, especially if the pace is hot?

If Smooth Air is a pretender.....so is Big Brown. He chased that "monster" all around the Gulfstream course.

Steve Davidowitz says contender - mentions including him in his Derby Super and other exotic plays.

He had a very good trip and didn't have to send hard from the 12 hole and still got totally smoked.

Someone had to run 2nd.

That could be Court Vision.

At this point, seems to be a definite include in the exotics based on his fitness level alone (and I might key him in the three bottom spots for the super), but I have doubts about whether he can win. I might upgrade him if there's good work reports from the Downs.

court vision doesn't impress me. IF Eight Belles runs i'll take my chances with her, Smooth Air and Pyro.

No one was beating Big Brown that day.....but the Kenucky Derby, that's another story. If he puts in another effort like that, my hat's off to him...but at 4-1 or less with only three lifetime starts.....I'll let him beat me.
