... and with that the whole Champions Day looks short of champions headline theme is cemented. Their loss is our gain.

Looking forward to seeing him up against Seek Again, who I like very much.

Toronado is now pointed to the race....the day after Wise Dan was declared out. Coincidence?

Godolphin sending Better Lucky to Mile; Casse opting Mile over Turf Sprint for Kaigun..

Mile contenders coming out of woodwork.. From Marcus Hersh..

Toronado heads a large group of Europeans expected to arrive Saturday in California for the Mile. The Freddy Head-trained Anodin, barring a last-minute change at pre-entry time Monday, also is a confirmed runner, as is Woodbine Mile winner Trade Storm. Monday, trainer Dermot Weld announced that Mustajeeb, whose highest-level win came in a Group 3, also is an intended starter. Another Irish horse, the mare Fiesolana, is expected to be among the pre-entries, and two French horses, Veda and Karakontie, also could show up in the pre-entries.

Unlucky Seek Again heads a North American-based contingent that also could include Obviously, Tom’s Tribute, Summer Front, Grand Arch, Kaigun, Sayaad, and Big Bane Theory. Za Approval, trainer Christophe Clement told Daily Racing Form over the weekend, will be pre-entered in the Turf Sprint and not the Mile, while Silentio is expected to be cross-entered in both races but with the Turf Sprint as first preference.

If all the European possibles show, and the North American group holds, there would be 14 Mile pre-entries, exactly the maximum number of starters in the race.

Gonna take a course record to win the Turf Mile, assuming it's firm.

I think the Euros sweep these races... Nothing clever there, hopefully its the bigger priced one's.

MARCUS HERSH: Fiesolana, cross-entered in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, her connections first preference, and the Breeders’ Cup Mile, will run in the Filly and Mare Turf, according to Alan Cooper, racing manager for her owner, the Niarchos family.

The Niarchos family, which also races under the nom de course Flaxman Holdings Corp, still has a starter for the Mile in the French shipper Karakontie, as well as one of the favorite for the Turf, the U.S.-based Main Sequence.

Fiesolana was one of two horses, along with Dayatthespa, cross-entered in the Filly and Mare Turf and the Mile, and with both opting for the Filly and Mare Turf, Sayaad and Tourist should get spots in the over-filled Mile when final entries are taken. The field is capped at 14, and Big Bane Theory will be the first also-eligible if the list of likely runners holds.

Steve Andersen, Santa Anita:

Tarfasha stays in Ireland

Tarfasha, winner of a G2 stakes in Ireland in September, was not shipped to California for the BC F-M Turf, according to international racing officials. The filly was fourth in G1 Prix de l'Opera in her last start on Oct. 5.

Irish Mission (Clement) in as a result..

If La Amour De La Vie (Brandt) and/or Paranda (Hollendorfer) goes in the Distaff, Rusty Slipper (Motion) and Stormy Lucy (Moger) are next in line for berths..

Arletta 10-29-2014 09:47 AM

Magician out of the BC Turf.
