Remembering Bowman's Crossing

There was a horrific accident at Sha Tin yesterday morning.....

Bowman's Crossing was training..... sadly he broke a leg and was euthanized.

He was never a big star, although he did have his moments of glory as any fan of HK racing will tell you.

He had a knack for coming in 3rd, and is probably best remembered for his runs in the Singapore Airlines International Cup where he was 3rd in both 2004and 2006.

Third in the HK Gold Cup one year, 3rd in the National Day Cup, 3rd in the Stewards Cup..... he did manage 2nd in the 2003 HK Mile.

Anyway, one of those names who has been around since I've started following the sport..... I thought he deserved more than a line on the angels thread.

Sha Tin / Happy Valley, Royal Ascot, Kranji..... a veteran with heart who was sometimes placed in fields over his head but who gave his all regardless.....

Every time.

Some would say he had lost his form, that his record wasn't good enough, that the wins were what was important and there were too few.

To me? These are the types who define racing, who are heroes as well, who are as game and competitive as the big guns and who are at times more fun to follow as thier wins may be few and far between. Their wins become more special and are little reminders of the joy of the game.

Anyway, there's no article anywhere, no recognition, and that's not right.

Under-appreciated in life, he deserves a moment of recognition..... they all do.

Run in peace forever. You'll never be forgotten.

Well, I'll be damned. I hate that...

He was a good one. It would be like the same thing happening to Perfect Drift.
