10 pnt move up 03-31-2016 11:59 AM

Well in the Florida Derby the top 2 are good...not sure of the rest.

pweizer 03-31-2016 12:25 PM

Why is Twilight Eclipse an MTO in the Pan American? Is that a mistake?

Paul

I was going to ask the same question

Takeittotheedge crushed sprinting first out very professionally and going away. Considering his dam is a half-sister to GSW & GISP Willa On The Move, I really thought he had a right to improve going a route of ground.

But drilling down here, you find his dam Willathewest, has not exactly produced route runners.

On the bright side, she's produced 5 foals all to race and all winners. Unfortunately they've been, by and large, sprinters and is a measly 3 for 24 with Dirt Route runners:

Dirt Sprints: 21.8% $1.69 55-12-6-13

Dirt Routes: 12.5% $1.73 24-3-5-4

It looks to me as though he's going to the lead and won't do nothing but compromise what little chance Fashionable Freddie may have had - but who knows - he may be a freak. He'll be on my ticket.

If I'm looking at a dark horse here, Chovanes maiden breaker last was much better than the beyer he was assigned. A move up off the last would put him in the Tri/Super mix

Alabama Stakes 04-02-2016 09:49 AM

Tough grader

So you're saying that a mare whose route hoss have been in the money half the time doesn't have it in her to produce a hoss that can cover a distance of ground

On a different note . That Chad brown guy who won the 1x and 2x back to back is a rare angle hoss today. Tough to win the 2 after the one

Chovanes is interesting Dan and I think Majesto has a big shot here.

No, I didn't say that at all. What part of "He'll be on my ticket" is confusing you?

The point is the mare has thrown 4x as many sprint winners as routers. I thought that was pretty clear.

Alabama Stakes 04-02-2016 11:11 AM

My error . Thought you were nitpicking

He seems to be a wiseguy play here - I'm just not seeing it, Tom. He's had 4 routes and even tossing the Jan 9th effort he would need a herculean effort to even be in the same zip code as these. Also don't like the fact that he seems to be 4-5 wide into the stretch each time -that tells me that he (either by trainer instruction or jockey reaction) does not take dirt in the face and needs to be outside thus has to cover more ground.

Not for me.

Alabama Stakes 04-02-2016 11:41 AM

Outside the box village idiot thoughts

In the big race I fell the paddock , or the warmup should tell the story. I think that if Nyquist stares that grey hoss down and puts the fear of God into him, than the grey hoss will be off the board.
If the grey hoss looks back and says bring it big boy , they could have at it all the way around and both have little left for the Derby, and maybe nothing left at the 1/16 pole and we get boxcars .
I'm pretty sure they'll know who the other guy is really fast when they see him.

I like Majesto here.

I like Nyquist...like a lot. Going big on the nose and that's it.

Alabama Stakes 04-02-2016 05:12 PM

I agree. Should roll

alysheba4 04-02-2016 06:03 PM
