These pre-preps are beginning to become as irrelevant the two year old campaigns

Agree. They new point system has compressed the timeframe too much.

Then why was there a full field for the 'point-denied' Sam Davis last week?

There's only so many candidates and they do have many options. Appreciate that Calculator and Bolo both had intentions for the Lewis and that Texas Red and Lord Nelson opted for the 7f kickoff to their 3yo campaigns. Ocho Ocho Ocho and American Pharaoh were always going to start with the San Felipe. Some other lesser lights are going to Ess Eff for the El Camino on Tapeta. How many classic season horses should we expect to be on the West Coast?

I would hope her ultimate goal for him is the Belmont Derby. However, it's hard to be anything but skeptical about that trainer keeping a horse healthy and at top level for longer than a few months. She has no record of it whatsoever.

Punctuate next race?

Hey Steve, have you heard anything on Punctuate? He got cast in stall last week, and Baffert said would run in Lewis. Do you know if hes ok and if so what race Baffert plans on entering him in now. Saw his debut and been waiting to see him run again. Thanks

“Shared Belief was excellent this morning,” Ward said. “He ate all his feed. What happened in the past is not important. The only thing is the future, and that would include the Santa Anita Handicap (on March 7)
