Up In Lights

Keeneland

Friday 10/23

Race #6

MSW 1 1/8 All Weather

#9 Up In Lights

This race is worth watching the replay. Many horses trying the stretchout for the first time. #9 (Up In Lights) gets hung 6 wide THROUGHOUT the first turn, races minimally 5 wide down the backstretch, moves strongly on the turn to maybe even nudge slightly to the front, passing the eventual winner, who impedes her on the way by. Up In Lights was running out of gas anyway, but this didn't help. Finished 5th on a track that seemed to have a slight speed/rail bias through the early part of the card, a bias she was up against the whole way. This horse went off at 62-1 yesterday. Next time out will still be a price and is worth looking at.

I would have preferred yesterday be the day as I had her in exactas, tris , dd, etc. but will certainly use again.

Watch the race yourself and let me know what you think.

Good Luck!

Ed

Her dam was a decent runner, ran 3rd in the Grade III Pucker Up and has thrown a couple of decent horses so far, including one pretty good one.

Really, really liked her in those Arlington turf races and bet that the grass is where she'll eventually do her best work. Based on the running line, you should be able to still get a pretty decent price on her next time out depending on where she goes, and she could spice up some multi-race wagers for sure if she breaks through soon.

Think she'll turn out okay.

Up In Lights ran on Sunday 11/15 in Churchills Race #4, in a MSW, going 1 1/16 on the turf, breaking from post 12.

Went off as the 6th choice at just under 12-1, rallied wide all the way around the turn from dead last to finish 2nd to the favorite, a Proctor-Leparoux 8/5 1st turfer.

Paid $10.60 $5.80

I imagine value will be gone now.

Hey, getting $10.60 to place in that spot was awesome -- plenty of value to be had even with running 2nd.

Runs in the 8th at Saratoga today. ML 10-1. Must include.

fantini33 08-15-2010 04:23 PM

Just missed at 5-1. Wide wide ride.....

clyde 08-15-2010 08:44 PM

We got hosed.

golfer 08-16-2010 04:55 AM

To my eye, she got a really good trip yesterday, and just got outfinished. The good news is, the 2 horses that outran her, albeit by a small margin, will NOT be in her next race.

clyde 08-16-2010 10:53 AM

^^^^Blind.

golfer 08-16-2010 03:40 PM

HEY! Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Yippy Downs may be watching this!

Wed 9/1

Race #3) 7/2 ML

Draws the rail and Borel. Running out of chances....for me anyway.:(

clyde 08-31-2010 04:20 PM

It's my pick o' the day.

golfer 08-31-2010 04:48 PM

I don't really like her tomorrow. The figure from her last race came back so-so, she certainly doesn't stand out. I think Deceive is the most likely winner.

clyde 08-31-2010 05:02 PM

Very good...is now my A#1 doubleplusgood Pick O' The Day.

clyde 09-02-2010 09:03 PM

Gofer...shut up.

golfer 09-03-2010 04:08 AM

It's OK, we know she was your A#1 doubleplusgood Pick O' The Day TO PLACE.

She sure ran a lot better than my choice, who simply sucked.

clyde 09-03-2010 12:38 PM

Thank you for noticing my subliminal message.

clyde 09-19-2010 10:33 PM

Hey..when is UpInSmoke..I mean Lights running again?

clyde 09-22-2010 07:10 PM

I'm serious...let's not muck up this thread.
