Ah, the Santa Anita stakes schedule: where the 3yo filly division is so teeming with horses, that the track can dare to card two route stakes for the same group on the same race card.

It was not unheard of back in the heyday of Hollywood Park to see fillies run in both of these races (Antespend, Pen Bal Lady, Country Queen, etc.) even though one of them was on the grass. Of course, track management wasn't daft enough to run both on the same day.

I think only champion 3yo filly Turkish Trousers was able to take down both races (both races were on the main track then). She also took down all the other 3yo filly stakes, turf or dirt, that year at HP (Railbird, Princess, Seņorita). I don't think she ran more than once a day though...

Santa Anita actually has a pretty good batch of 3yo fillies hanging around.
Sircat Sally will go off @ 1-5 or so Saturday, she's 6 for 6 with no end in sight.
I think It Tiz Well goes favored in the Summertime Oaks, she's won three of her last five (including a Gr. 3 @ Oaklawn) with a 2nd & 3rd.
The three horses to finish in front of her in her two recent losses are Unique Bella/Able Tasman/Paradise Woods.
Now the 3yo Colts........

She certainly has speed on her side.........she's never trailed at any point in her victories.

In the Oaks I am not sold on these front runners and think Majestic Quality may be moving forward as she has always had some talent and now gets a nice setup. Price should be fair enough with Bafferts and Hollendorfer in here.

Gotta give It Tiz Well another go of it next time. Mike Smith made a mess of her race. She was coming off a short layoff (~60 days) and may have been a bit fresh. She broke very sharply and could have gone straight to the front (she showed plenty of early speed in her maiden and 3rd career start), but Smith chose to try and wrangle her back resulting in a battle of wills between him and the filly for the first 1/2 mile. She ended up taking out Cerin's filly on the first turn while rank, then ran up on heels down the backstretch forcing Smith to check her sharply which also ended up causing runner-up Mopotism to check as well. Then Smith proceeded to sheepishly travel along the rail in the stretch, but wouldn't commit to an all out effort and ended up having to steady again when stablemate Spooky Woods came in a bit.

End result was It Tiz Well got to do almost no real running and the stablemate was DQ'd, losing valuable black-type status in the process.
