Comisky's Humor scared him off.

Mike Welsch‏ (@DRFWelsch): Todd Pletcher reports Fountain of Youth 3rd place finisher Discreet Dancer off Triple Crown trail. Will get a break, return later in year.

I'm shocked.

Is later a euphamism for never?

FTFY

Sounds like the same issue that plagued Brethren.

Didn't I read the other day that there was never anything " seriously " wrong with Brethren ( other than a bad case of the slows )? Which begs the question, how much time would he have missed with a real issue given this supposed nothing caused him to lose a year?

VOL JACK 03-27-2012 10:19 AM

Travelin Man II

HaloWishingwell 03-27-2012 12:53 PM

Pletcher has a winning percentage and reputation to protect:eek:

I dunno that 7-2 on a maiden winner in a 14-horse field is a gift, but he sure as hell was impressive.

Excellent question. No matter how long, however, a massive GP return effort would be odds-on.

“He had a poor performance in the Arkansas Derby, so we just decided to give him some time off. He never really had any serious issues,” said Pletcher. “He’s ready to go, now we have to figure out where to start him back. I have him nominated for the Sir Shackleton, but nothing is definite yet.”

I doubt I will bet the race....but I wouldn't bet him. Too slow for me.

RockHardTen1985 03-28-2012 04:42 AM

Anyone like Arm Force? He should appreciate going longer. Big field with a lot of the big name trainers, you likely will get all of that 20-1.

Conrad 03-28-2012 01:03 PM

Took my first look at the pp's for the La Derby today and Rousing Sermon caught my eye.
Third off the layoff and just got back to his juvy top number.
He is shipping and running back on 3wks rest though. No local works.

One thing is sure: Tom Amoss' colt Shared Property will be overbet. The locals are just dying for him to win this race one day, and his Derby prospects always get over-hyped and overbet at FG.

Hey, it's my first post!
Nice to be aboard.

FGFan 03-28-2012 04:25 PM

Supposedly Arm Force is going to withdraw/scratch.
NO Handicap is my favorite race of the day.
