Wood day at the Big A!!!

I'm going to be making a long awaited return to the Big A! 3 weeks out, any info on probables for the undercard Stakes???? Carter could be a war!

This shouldn't have been moved. Joey S going back to Queens is irrelevant. I would like to discuss the undercard races. Please put this back where it belongs ASAP.

Are you going to visit Mr. and Mrs. Costanza while you are in Queens?

I am planning a trip to Aqueduct for Wood day. Any suggestions as to where to stay? My buddy and I will be driving up from VA, so somewhere near the track. I am also not very familiar with the area, so what sort of night life/gambling is near there?

Lastly, should I get tickets in advance or is that something that I won't have a problem getting that day? Thanks in advance.

Other than the casino next door, there's no nightlife in Ozone Park. You'd have to go somewhere closer to the city. Tickets will never be an issue at Aqueduct.

Fifty years ago you could have stayed at the Whitman Hotel in Jamaica. All the visiting horsemen stayed there, and some of the local horsemen were permanent residents. Alas, it is no more.

For places to stay near the track, just look up places to stay near JFK Airport, right nearby. If I were looking for nightlife, however, I'd be inclined to stay in Manhattan.

Ditto on, other than the casino, there being nothing else to do near the track. If you want to spend Saturday night in the city, you can take the A train for $2.50 from the track to midtown or the Village or the Wall Street area or Harlem or wherever you want to go, but then I'd suggest taking a taxi or car service back to your hotel at the end of the night- probably about $50 or so if you're near the airport. Bars close at 4AM in the city, so you can have a long night of it if you want. Easy enough to catch a taxi on the street whenever.

Hoping to make it out to the Wood myself this year.
