Playing Australia tonight?

Well okay I'm not, not tonight, but figured we needed a new thread for the new year and besides.... had to post the barrier draw for Saturday!

Can't wait. :)

In the Guineas I think I'm going to use Bring a Ring  on top of the favorites (Sweet Idea, Enquare, Weinholt).

Still looking at the Classic but I think Unencumbered is beatable. I'm looking at Oakleigh Girl who I'd imagine will be a low odds (3rd favorite after Invisible?) but also at Celestial Dragon (that would make a great rags to riches story if he won :) ), Stroak and Divine Service.

Still pondering the rest of the card...

Good luck if you're playing tonight.

I play Australia almost every night;)

However, I do like to watch the board so I may post some picks but later.

:tro: :D

Good luck if you're playing tonight (you too dagolfer).

(... and Cardus, if you're around).

dagolfer33 01-10-2014 11:26 PM

I also like the 12 in the Classic.

I'm going to tri it, 1,12/1,6,7,11,12/1,6,7,11,12 $24

Cheers to the winnahs and congrats to the Berrys.

I was going to sit out the first at Randwick cause of the highly anticipated debut of Rubick but instead think I will play the filly Twirl to beat him.

Keeping it simple with straight win bets:

(Sorry for merely listing the race # and not the proper names)

R2 - Harry Hotspur
R3 - Mr. Scary
R4 - Vilanova
I'm Imposing in the Cup (R6) (Brigantin and Travolta are both beatable)
R7 - Recoinage

I think it'll be a pretty chalky day at Caulfield (Iconic, Quick Snitzel) but will try to beat Limes in the 6th (looking at Gondokoro).

Silk Pins in R1 (my one concession to sentimentality)
R5 - Spirits Dance
R8 - Instrumentalist

Good luck to the older gents, Mr. Slick and Jungle Heat, in the 4th at Eagle Farm and to anyone playing tonight.

my miss storm cat 01-25-2014 09:00 AM

Sucked for the most part.... Twirl a nice 2nd to Rubick who lived up to the hype and the filly Create seems to be okay which is always good news.

Thanks Spirits Dance for saving my ass (Instrumentalist won as well).

Had the wrong longshot over Limes...

Aus C Caulfield

1 4 Spirits Dance $31.60 $12.90 $3.60
2 5 Whistle Baby - $4.60 $2.70
3 6 Orvieto - - $2.10
4 9 Just Too Hard - - -

Aus C Caulfield #8
Race #8 11:38pm

POS # Horse Win Place Show

1 6 Instrumentalist $7.70 $4.40 $4.20
2 13 Magnapal - $6.20 $5.50
3 10 Reigning - - $4.60
4 8 Altonio

Can't wait!

Seven Group 1 winners in CF Orr Stakes nominations

Damien Browne picks up the mount on Earthquake (Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude) after Kerrin McEvoy is forced to pass due to injury (meanwhile Damien Oliver had been on standby but took another mount yesterday assuming Mc Evoy would ride. Doh!).

Earthquake and Eloping... can't wait.

(... and, of course, Polanski, who is cross entered. I'd imagine Robbie Laing will go for it and run him in the Orr. I love this horse).

... what do I know.

Field of 8 for the Orr Stakes, Polanski to the G2 Autumn Stakes instead.

Can't wait!

Playing God injured and out (retired) and now it's looking like Sertorius might be scratched because of the extreme heat.

Too bad...

Big fan of Hawkspur and I do like Foreteller but looking elsewhere...

NOT looking for a longshot and I wish I'd stop thinking of using him... someone quick talk me out of using Finishing Card. :D (not in the same league BUT I look at his form and keep thinking hmmm why couldn't he jump up (?) and, since I have no strong feelings for Moment of Change, Shamus Award or Eurozone, I might go there afterall :wf).

Of course IF Sertorious stays in that changes things.

Cannot wait for Polanski who is my lock of the day (moreso than Rubick or Earthquake).

Trying to figure out who to use in the Prelude.. Chivalry and Nostradamus are looking really good BUT are drawn so wide... looking at Duckworth right now.

Anyone playing tomorrow night?

Cardus? Ed? Moodwalker? Dagolfer?

dagolfer33 02-06-2014 05:12 PM

I will be looking at it tonight miss G, I will give you my thoughts but with this caviat: I'm not in good form right now.;)

Well everything I touch turns to crap lately so we'll make a fine pair.

Do let me know who you like when you've had a chance to look!

dagolfer33 02-07-2014 09:16 AM

Ok, I'm ruling out the deeper closers in this race.
(7) Shamus Award
(5) Sertorius
(3) Moment of Change

I wouldn't dissuade you from using the (6), however class wise doesn't fit and last effort was a huge jump up from other efforts. Sertorius looks like price play, maybe exacta keying with 3 or 7. In other news.......I will be trying to find some hidden nuggets in some of the other huge-field races, but it will be a real-time kinda deal so maybe a little late night play-along action:)

Sertorius is out. :wf

I need to go through the whole card again and yeah I know and agree class wise he isn't quite there.

I wish he would stop jumping out at me!

(Cute avatar!).

my miss storm cat 02-07-2014 03:18 PM

The odds on tvg are, well... it will be interesting to see what happens tonight but I guess I'll go with Hawkspur in the top spot and, depending on his odds (cause he's at 8/1 now? Okaaaay :D ), do a very small w/p on FC. Not very confident but oh well.

edit -

Okay tonight is just not happening for me right now. :wf

Good luck, dagolfer!
