The Eddie Read feels more like a Grade 3. I'm not sure Jeranimo will look like a grade 1 animal without the pace he needs. If Sofast is any kind of horse, he should beat these.

Sad that we had to lose Monzante, a former Eddie Read winner, on the day they ran his highest achievement. Did he get hurt Fall 2008? I understand the point of claiming races and that not all older horses need to be retired just because people get the vapors about their age, but I can't figure out why this particular horse was still on the track. So much of his record these last few years suggested he was being held together with duct tape. Eight more months off and first race back at age 9, breaks down.
