World Cup 2010

It's gonna be great. Netherlands and Italy for me.

I will be hoping that the USA beat the English this Saturday - that would be brilliant..

The US backline has looked really really bad. Even with a healthy Gooch, I'm not sure it would be much better. That and with Bradley unwilling to stray from the 4-4-2, I think we will see the US lose to England, advance to the knockout stage, and get beat. I know, original, right?

Funny you say the Netherlands, as my boss' husband is from there and already has his top 10 excuses for early dismissal ready to go...:D

Can you ever go wrong picking Brazil? Don't you pretty much have a 50-50 shot doing that? That's my entire base of soccer knowledge.

yep, you wont go far wrong with that attitude. They are a class team and great to watch. I, however, think that they will get upset by another South American team (Chile) in the 2nd round or struggle in the group stage and wind up playing favourites Spain in the 2nd round.

I was wondering when you would show up Ian :)

How far do you think IN-GRRRRR-LAND will go?

Nascar1966 06-11-2010 07:58 AM

Im hoping South Africa can tie or beat Mexico today. Likely not to happen. Tomorrow it will be interesting to see what the USA has for England.

Quite a group we have assembled. Some 'colorfully' named teams

Nascar1966 06-11-2010 05:08 PM

If im a Mexican team supporter I would be embarrassed with the draw to South Africa. Myself on the other hand is extremely pleased with the result. The Mexicans aren't going to get the home stadium calls like they are used to getting. Also there wasnt no fans throwing stuff on the field like the Mexicans did when the USA was in Mexico for a game.

horseofcourse 06-11-2010 06:12 PM

I actually picked a winner in every game. I can plainly see that's a losing strategy.

I laughed. I let my 10 year old son pick the games, I guess I won't be perusing the standings with him. She must have low self image.
