Ifraaj possible for BC Mile

Saeed bin Suroor has indicated that a trip to America for the Breeders' Cup Mile looks to be on the cards for Iffraaj following his impressive victory in the Betfair Cup at Goodwood on Tuesday.

Iffraaj was narrowly beaten in the July Cup but gained due compensation in no uncertain terms when running out a four-length winner of the seven-furlong contest at the Sussex venue.

He has a number of options before the Breeders Cup, including the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville on Sunday August 13.


If recovering from his recent exertions to make the line-up there, Iffraaj would be attempting the mile trip for the first time in a bid to land back-to-back victories for Godolphin after Dubawi's success last year.

'He was unlucky not to win the July Cup but I am sure he can win a Group One. I think the race for him is the Breeders' Cup Mile in November,' bin Suroor told The Sportsman.

'Before then he has a lot of options and he is in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville next Sunday, although that may come too quickly.

'He was always one of my favourites even when he was in Dubai,' he added.
