TVG

Hi Guys/Gals

Im a fellow horse lover and Ive been reading and enjoying all of your posts for a while now. I just got the TVG network on Comcast and I was wondering if I could get some info from you all about the channel. I watched it this weekend off and on and realized that they didn't show wither Gulfstream or Santa Anita, but they showed tracks like Fairgrounds and Turfway all day long. Do they always shwo these tracks on the weekends or do they mix it up?

Thanks guys

Sightseek 02-12-2007 12:03 PM

HRTV has the rights to Santa Anita, Gulfstream and Oaklawn (unfortunately) TVG had Hollywood Park, Churchill (I believe), Keeneland and the NYRA tracks.

Coach Pants 02-12-2007 12:10 PM

TVG won't have Churchill for long. (Hopefully)

munster, I just became a Comcast subscriber through their acquisition of Adelphia. When I was an Adelphia customer, TVG was not offered. TVG is still not offered as of yet, but I'm guessing that it will be in the near future. Were you also in this same boat (former Adelphia or Time Warner subsciber)?

I hope you were and this means that the ball is rolling toward getting some horse racing on TV in my area. I like to wager from home, but the video feeds on the internet are somewhat grainy and tough to tell which horse is which.

I'll stop posting picks and get real petty and chastise others for their picks. Then we can go shopping for the same clothes and call ourselves the petty sisters.

I wasn't chastising anyone for their picks..it was something that happened on HRTV yesterday that I was making the joke about. Sorry you took it the wrong way.

My mistake. She was a bad single for me and add that to the cancelled gp card which I handicapped and it equals an angry PP.

No, Ive always been a Comcast member, all you have to do is upgrade to the "Digital Preffered" package, it has the NFL Network and TVG among others

from what i've read...churchill, Oak Tree, and Hollywood contracts with TVG are up after this year. Hopefully they'll go to someone who doesn't put a surcharge on wagers.

ceejay 02-12-2007 01:40 PM

PP,

If they do, that someone will have to be someone new. No way CD goes with Magna-HRTV.

Don't want fees? Try BRISBET. Free pdf pp's too with a bet on a card.

Problem is, since I was with Adelphia before, I still have my Adelphia channels, which did not offer TVG. At some point, my area should become assimilated with the Comcast channels, but they will not reveal when that will happen. I was just hoping that it was starting to occur in other areas.

Currently, for me to watch the real analog signal, I have to go to Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods, which is ok, but I would prefer to stay home most of the time and watch a nice, crisp picture on my own television.

Thanks anyways

Mes5107,

Chuck the cable and get Dish Network. It carries both horse racing channels as part of its basic package.;)

Scav 02-12-2007 06:59 PM

TVG loses Churchill and it is BYE BYE Network, can't live off Los Al and Meadowlands very long. They have caused alot of problems with their exclusivity BS, and I am kinda in a bind as I love TVG and have it, but I hope they get a taste of their own medicine.....

I have a feeling you are going to see Churchill launch their own channel, kinda along the lines of what HRTV does now.

I gave Dish a very long look recently since it offers both TVG and HRTV, but I am not able to get it without erecting a post so that it can see over the trees, which is not allowed by management where I live. I had subscribed to both (first Dish then DirecTV) where I used to live, and I actually prefer regular cable a little bit more, especially during stormy weather.

I just hope that Comcast gets around to offering me TVG sooner rather than later.

I would say they are gone.

TVG will be out of business within 24 months in my opinion

I've had Dish Network since the end of September without a single incident of losing signal cause of weather.

Ditto... when we had DirectTV, we only lost signal a couple of times and it actually survived 3 hurricanes without a single incident of signal loss. I'm pissed that I'm stuck with cable now.

Solari 02-13-2007 06:50 PM

I switched from cable to Dish over 2 years ago and I can count on one hand the number of times that I lost the signal. If I do lose the signal it is because a thunderstorm is right over my house and the signal is back in a couple of minutes. If you are a horse racing fan and are able to get Dish you owe it to yourself to do so. I would never want to go back to my days before Dish. Between the two horse racing channels I can see virtually every big race live. The other day my door bell rang and it was a salesman from the cable company trying to get me to re-subscribe. I told him they would never have me as a customer until they offered me HRTV and TVG. That usually stops their sales pitch.

scrimshaw 02-13-2007 07:41 PM

dish

losing the signal is greatly exaggerated if you ask me. I never lose my signal. the only time I have ever lost a signal was when they installed the dish in the winter right behind a tree that, of course, bloomed in the spring. Since they put the dish in a spot free of obstructions, I have NEVER lost a signal. Those that I know that have lost their signal have said it goes out for a few seconds and comes back momentarily.

bugsoup 02-13-2007 08:16 PM

so is part of the basic package for dish. cause i have cox comm. and they charge extra for tvg and don't offer hrtv. which costs me 129.00 a month cause i have to have ditigal cable to get it.

Yup, both TVG and HRTV are on the basic package which if you don't care about HD channels starts at $29.99 a month.

aHogush 02-13-2007 09:17 PM

I must have had quite abnormal circumstances when I had Dish and DirecTV (Dish about 5 years ago and DirecTV 4 years ago until 2 years ago). Everytime it rained (a good, soaking rain or more) I would get a ton of "hiccups" in the signal. The harder it rained, the longer each hiccup was, which occasionally lasted an hour or more during a good rainstorm. It didn't happen all of the time, and the picture was generally very clean, but those nights are the ones that stick out.

bugsoup 02-14-2007 03:24 PM

for 30.00 amonth sure beats 129.00
wheni get back home will have to see about it.
