Cole Norman involved in accident Monday

GPK 02-05-2007 09:30 PM

scary stuff there...

lemoncrush 02-05-2007 09:30 PM

Just for clarity, I think the title of the thread should be renamed so people don't assume that Cole Norman was killed in this accident.

With so many people from the board being involved in racing, I wouldn't want a friend or aquaintence of his to see the title and think he died.

It didn't lead me to believe he died.

that was a good one.
Not to make light of the situation, but I don't follow Oaklawn and the other southern tracks he works at, so I have really don't know much about him.
Just thought it might lead to some people thinking the fatality was him.

I have to admit when i glanced at the headline in the DRF this morning that was my first thought....when I read it more carefully I realized I was wrong but I think it COULD have been worded differently...

Norman is "in tight".. This will likely be a vehicular homicide charge in short order. It also comes on the heels of a domestic incident that went largely unreported late last year.

Yeah, apparently people had already called in to the police to report his erratic driving before the accident occured.

Gander 02-06-2007 02:48 PM

So its blatantly obvious alcohol and or drugs were involved, much like the Frank Loabocetta incident last year. Sad story. Woman was in the wrong place at the wrong time and if she was driving at 86, she probably kept herself pretty healthy for that age. Just terrible stuff.

It's a shame he didn't get help. Now people are suffering due to his problems.

And her dog was in the car as well and died as a result of injuries.. It's a very sad incident..

The Bid 02-06-2007 03:22 PM

Man, thats a very sad deal. Is it confirmed he was hammered?

Its a shame someone had to die, and godbless her family. Godbless Cole and his family too. What a bummer.

SCUDSBROTHER 02-06-2007 03:24 PM

Hard to believe, but he just happens to have Joe Six Pack running Thursday.

The Bid 02-06-2007 03:25 PM

oh man scuds, the irony.

Still awaiting blood tests but considering there were already calls about him driving erratically it is tough to imagine he wasn't under the influence of something.

GPK 02-06-2007 04:52 PM

not sure of the laws in LA, but if Byk is right and CN is "in tight" he needs to thanks his lucky stars...

RIP to the lady and her dog.

I thank God everyday there was no one else involved in my accident. Had I killed someone...no way I could have lived with myself...I would have gone insane, no doubt.

Kev,

It happened in AK.. By 'in tight' I mean he's in big trouble.. I don't believe he's got anything to be thankful about.

Sorry Steve....misunderstood your meaning there. Yeah...big trouble does not begin to describe it...sorry again.

packerbacker7964 02-06-2007 05:38 PM

I hang out with some guys who've know him and have horse's with him. When I went to Oaklawn this past year he'd have a few beers with us if he didn't have anymore horses running that afternoon. Never seen him drunk but he'd put a few back and not act drunk or anything. Co Co is what they call him and I've heard them talk of some "good ole Boys" stories from L.A. Downs of years past so anything is possiable.

smartyalex 02-06-2007 05:50 PM

Steve,
AK = Alaska.
AR = Arkansas.

......just giving you a hard time.

GPK 02-08-2007 08:48 PM

Joe Six Pack wins and Norman gets three winners on the day. Where is the justice in this?

Has that been confirmed as rumor yet?

The Indomitable DrugS 02-08-2007 09:42 PM

Quote from Aaron Hesz, co-host of the Southern California radio show "The Roger Stein show"

"The rumor came out this morning, a PROMINENT trainer reported to a PROMINENT West Coast jockey agent that Cole Norman had committed suicide. It is now reported he had O.D'ed, but was found and saved.

It also is speculated that in the aforementioned car accident, the woman killed (Virgina Heath) was a relative of former president Bill Clinton."

packerbacker7964 02-08-2007 09:50 PM

Before, during or after the car wreck? My boy the Breadman hasn't said anything to the such and he's a ear to the basckstreach there. Word on the backstreach is he's clean but who knows for sure?

Aren't most people living there related to him?

Oh, I thought that was you.

The Indomitable DrugS 02-09-2007 12:58 AM

I am a screw-up with the ladies....but hey, you know that.

And I certainly am not Aaron Hesz---that's for damn sure! Perhaps if I envoke his name enough---he will make a cameo on this board....and we will all be much worse for it!

You are not a screw up with the ladies! After that one legendary adventure you had with the shampoo bottle and that one lady you were fond of, how can you say that??!

If he is clean at Hot Springs, Its just the opposit here at LS. He openly flaunts his drinking at the simo pavilion. Maybe this is his way of hiding it by not partaking in the main building but it is all the buzz at LS simo. Nothing confirmed but any or all of the rummors would be no suprise.
