just glad to see someone else chime in...other wise Pais and I could have just resumed this conversation in Private Message:D

That was my first thought before I clicked on the thread. Best, I'll go with Guns N Roses covering "Live and Let Die". Different from the original in a good way. Just about any Nirvana cover from the Unplugged show would be up there too. Loved their covers of the Meat Puppets and David Bowie.

love STP's "Break on Through"

she's fabulous...at least in the version that they play as a duet...
U2 also did a good version of all along the watchtower...however no one does it better than Hendrix who stole it first.

I like that version better than the Stones...

GPK 01-21-2007 08:36 PM

How about Aretha and "Respect"??

paisjpq 01-21-2007 08:38 PM

Bethani and the little fuzzy one have gone to bed...I was informed to add Chili Peppers "Higher Ground" to the list of good covers.

Byrds...Tamborine Man
Peter, Paul and Mary...Blowin' In The Wind

Worst Cover-
I love the Fuggees, but I hated when they did the cover of Bob Marley's "No Woman, no Cry"

Thanks Pete, I didn't know Grizzly Adams was still alive:D

Whatever that group was that re-made Michael Jacksons "Smooth Criminal." Now that was awful.

GenuineRisk 01-22-2007 11:19 AM

The Beatles' cover of "Twist and Shout!"

I also like Sonic Youth's cover of "Superstar."

I like the IGs' cover of "Romeo and Juliet," too, Bethani.

Worst-- for me, Clay Aiken's rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters." Dude, did anyone ever tell this kid what a "build" 'is?

I think Sheryl Crow's cover sucked, too, but I'm glad she did it because it shows up on karaoke machines and I can sing her version. Because, of course, it's all about me. :)
