Time Squared

Entered in Santa Anita's 6th today...very excited about this one. :)

Last race was a solid effort for a horse who was "entered just to get a race in before turning 3" as Biancone said on HRTV prior to the race.

wac 01-21-2007 04:04 PM

im pumped 4 this race i really was impressed by "square" 1st race so we will see what happens

Kasept 01-21-2007 04:54 PM

Anyone playing this race needs to use the #1 at a ridiculous price.. Wellnessfast..

I'd key the 1-3 with the 6-10-11.. Terrific race..

Rootdog1 01-21-2007 05:18 PM

how did the 6 come to a complete stop out by the stand in the stretch and stll win.........that was an amazing race

I don't don't know what to make of that race. It doesn't look like the six was at fault but I'm watching from my PC so it's hard for me to tell. Nice comeback by the six.

Rootdog1 01-21-2007 05:21 PM

Bull crap to DQ the 6........reward him from that amazing effort.

SCUDSBROTHER 01-21-2007 05:22 PM

Incredible race from Tiago.I can't believe that effort.

lemoncrush 01-21-2007 05:28 PM

I was trying to tell everyone that 15-wide was where you wanted to be today at Santa Anita.. :p
Seriously, that was bizzare...I thought the horse was being eased and then all of a sudden, he starts running again. I can't remember the last time I saw anything like that.

SCUDSBROTHER 01-21-2007 05:29 PM

I don't appreciate Spanky carrying me wide.Tiago wins by 5 if not for that rat doing that.

Kasept 01-21-2007 05:30 PM

Closest thing to this in my memory is Dettori ruining Swain's BC Classic try..

Can't believe the rest of the field can't beat them. How mediocre are they?

pick4 01-21-2007 05:32 PM

Sal Gonzalez was the one who messed that race up. Spanky would have won by open lengths if he had a competent jock on his back.

Five Star Derek 01-21-2007 05:34 PM

All I can say is wow. That was crazy. I do think the stewards got it right after watching the replay.

Miss Norman in the Fantasy Stakes the next to last day of the meet this past year at Oaklawn. Blew the turn into the stretch and bolted twice more before finally straightening up and coming back for 2nd behind Pletchers shipper. Didn't affect any other horses but the closest thing I've seen.

Victor had him measured. No doubt in my mind Tiago blows by him.Spank was all over the place, but he never had his momentum totally stopped (like Tiago did.)

Using that theory. Spanky Come Home is a good bet against next time.

I bet all sorts of horses with the bridge jumping... after a horse blows the turn, and all the shenanigans, the favorite hits the board and I rip. GRR!!

Rootdog1 01-21-2007 06:05 PM

I agree the 6 should of been DQed but from what I saw what he did was more impressive then what Tiago did. True, the 6 was the cause of the trouble but it was still amazing...he basically bolted, stopped, started and then won. I didnt have any $ on the race so my glasses are not colored....

outofthebox 01-21-2007 06:13 PM

I agree with Root. But really the whole final 1/4 was slower than an average harness race at the Meadowlands..Most of you youngones wont remember this, but back in 86' Broad Brush completely blew the turn in the PA Derby and after Cordero got a weiner from the hotdog stand he came back and was a drawing away winner...

WillSmith 01-21-2007 06:21 PM

He is such an interesting horse. There are stories that his owner would take him for rides in the trailer much like you'd take your dog for a ride to make him happy.

Time Squared....unfortunately reminded me of Canteen, no mind on the matter although he did get interested once Spanky got back into the race. Break wasn't that good and he did get slightly taken up at the top of the stretch when Tiago won...so I guess there is room for improvement...I just hoped for a lot more.

What's really weird is that Gonzales had another do that exact same thing last year in a stakes race at Oaklawn. It was almost identical. Both the horse today and the horse at Oaklawn bolted at the top of the stretch and then again at the 1/8th pole. And both horses then came back on. The one at Oaklawn ended up running 2nd.

Now I remember who the horse was at Oaklawn. It was Miss Norman. The race was the $250,000 Fantasy Stakes.
