am I the only one

that gets a kick out of when they are all loaded in the gate...but maybe one or two of the horses aren't ready...you start hearing..

"NO...NO....NONONONONONONONONO"

I find myself laughing like crazy everytime I hear that:D

I do...don't I?? Just very easily amused I guess.:o

ArlJim78 11-16-2006 12:29 PM

I also laugh at that, especially because as the guy is saying no no no no no, the gates suddenly open.

i really notice it in NY, but I think its everywhere.

and yes pais, before you even ask, i have a sickness.:D

s'okay...as kev can attest I have a few of my own:D

Coach Pants 11-16-2006 12:33 PM

Sounds like the NY crew is saying 'ALLAHLALALALALALALALALAALALALALALALA!'

slotdirt 11-16-2006 12:34 PM

That always cracks me up, but it seems like it's only in places with good gate crews. You never hear the "no no no" at Penn National.

Soooo....I guess admitting to walking around work all day and mumbling to myself under my breath..."NONONONONONONO" is not a good thing either??:o

In Cali they yell, burrito, burrito, chimichanga and then the gates open.....of course, this is coming from my middle child.

not good.

also, if you're in a meeting and suddenly blurt out "annnnnd theirrr off!!", it might be frowned on depending upon where you work.

jpops757 11-16-2006 02:04 PM

More amusing than anything is the piped in sound of hooves hiting the ground during the race.

Buffymommy 11-16-2006 02:10 PM

Hee hee. This is a funny topic. It does always make me giggle kev. You are not alone.

You are right!! The only place I know that does that is Hawthorne and it is the most ridiculous thing you'll ever hear. When the gate opens the hoofbeats start. when they cross the wire the sound is switched off yet the horses are still running. It is so stupid.

ESPN used piped in crowd noise during the Breeders Cup as swell as Travers, made me want to vomit.

And really, do we need either image in our minds during a horse race?

i don't know how it could be both. but if you can say down the stretch, i guess it could be up the backside...lmao, still sounds bad!!

just don't see how it could be down the backside and the stretch, where's the up part of the race?

but definitely running up, rather than running down the backside....because 'running down the backside' is the worst of all!!

SCUDSBROTHER 11-16-2006 04:54 PM

The other day I heard a new one from either a jock,or a member of the gate crew: "I knew I should of gone to college."

Down the Stretch has a very nice backside (so I've been told).
Some times it's up, sometimes it's down.
Any more questions?

No, I don't know how to post pics.
