A song for you ma'am

I know you are a country music fan and I'm sure you've heard this one before. I read that country music writer John Prine is ill with the virus and I couldn't recall any songs that he had written so looked on youtube and found his songs and this one that made me laugh the first time I heard it and every time since then. Be sure to listen until the end. That's the good part(not written by Mr. Prine, I think.)

Oh sorry. Used wrong browser. Let me try it again.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAOVRkSCWmg

Sorry, not sure that will play or not. I use two different browsers. It plays on one, but not the other. I should probably delete one of them. Anyway, what I was trying to let you listen to is a funny song by David Allen Coe which features "the perfect country song" written by Steve Goodman. You might have heard it anyway.

My #1 Significant Song is THE DANCE by Garth Brooks
It exemplifies my life and my own philosophy

'Yes I Could Have Missed The Pain :(
But I Would Have Had to Miss The Dance' :{>:

THE DANCE

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared beneath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known you'd ever say goodbye :(

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd have to miss the dance

Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I the king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go

Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
but I'd of had to miss The Dance

I must admit I can’t stand any of those
{Big Band + Jazz }

I firmly believe in the concept of
*** To each our own {in all things}

That is what makes the world interesting
How boring it would be if everybody liked the same stuff :(

Jazz and Rap absolutely shred my nervous system!!!
I would have to leave the room if they were playing

It’s kind of the same thing about my love of ANCHOVIES :{>:

There are people that wouldn’t touch a pizza

Or in that case with the pizza and the anchovies

Just got back from Dollar General. Had to get some food for my pups and grabbed some other stuff like spaghetti sauce and sandwich meat in case we get in a siege. Wore my N95 mask and nitrile gloves. Told the lady at the checkout I would have worn my hazmat suit, but it was at the cleaners. Wiped all my purchases down after I got back before I shed my gloves and mask. Wiped my counters down and washed my hands. Sanjay and Dr. Fauci would be proud.

I listened to just about all the John Prine on youtube the other day. Most of it I had not heard, but I think I had heard that song, When Worlds Collide, which he did with Bonnie Rait, but seems like I also heard George Jones and Tammy Wynette sing that. I've got a Bonnie Rait CD from when she won seemingly everything at the Grammys. Haven't listened to it in awhile. I think that Angel from Montgomery is on that CD. That lady Iris Dement has a great country sound too.

The title of that one makes me laugh so I know the song has got to be pretty funny. I saw Conway as a solo act in Hot Springs. Not sure when that was. He put on a heck of a show. Always liked him.:tro:

No worries. I was just jokingly trying to defuse the situation. I am not mad at anybody. Most of my comments are meant to make people laugh. I am seldom serious. Too old to fight with anybody anymore and maybe wise enough to know it never makes anything any better.

Even better version
At least for me
Same song

Celine Dion :{>: and Josh Groban :{>:

The Prayer
David Foster, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Mark Masri, Michael Bolton, Carole Bayer …

Can we touch the soul of heaven
Can we unite a sacred lesson
Every child creates a skylight of beauty
Can you hear cathedrals falling
All the universe is calling

Cry a single cello from your heart
Since the world has lost her way
Loneliness journey, endlessly
Yet the promised chance remains
Gift of what could be

So let the children remember the sun
Let them dance, let them soar
For their lives have begun
Let the children engender the rain
As the river runs through fields
Forever subsiding their pain
Prayer

Every voice along the shoreline
Standing still within time
Spinnin' unresolved
Walking as each season passes
Through wonderland, through walking glasses

A secret garden shines, beckons you
Gentle flower don't fade away
Sweet innocence still harbors thee
In the faint of golden dreams
Where one love lives eternally

Let the children remember the sun
Let them dance, let them soar
For their lives have begun
Let the children engender the rain
As the river runs through fields
Forever subsiding their pain
Prayer, prayer

Bless the children for they are the light
They are the truth of spirit in flight
Yes the children engender the rain
As the river runs through life
Healing their pain

If you could trust with your heart one more time
Sweet angel conceived
You have forever and always believed,
The Prayer

cal828 04-19-2020 01:01 PM

There are lots of versions of the song and none bad as far as I could tell. I liked the Groban/Dion version and the Bocelli/Dion version and the Bocelli/McPhee and of course the one I posted. I think I was just impressed with this girl that reportedly got her start on youtube, but there are lots of good, unheralded singers on youtube. Maybe it helps that she's just prettier than Celine.:D Just joking. Saw Celine in Vegas and she was terrific!!:tro:
