I'll take Luis Saez since it doesn't look like Cohen will get a license to ride
|
I’ll throw a different name out and say Jose Lezcano.

After 40 races at Saratoga, some interesting numbers : Only 6 winners have paid $5.00 or less and as posted above, only 3 winnners at 9-1 or greater. 14 winners have paid between $5.00 and $10.00 with 17 winners in the $10.00 to $20.00 range.

With Joe Bravo (2 wins) and Ricardo Santana (3 wins) picking up mounts, jockeys like Dylan Davis are getting squeezed for quality rides. By the way, Indigo Yankee should have been 30-1 against that field on Monday and was one of Jose Ortiz's three wins in his first 26 mounts. (He is only 7-for-26 in the money in the first four days!) |
Ricardo Santana Jr.
I know he's starting to get a ton of live ones, but he still rides prices home. -bt- |

Hard to believe that we are 10 days (25%!) through the meeting and only 9 $20+ horses have clicked. Feels low, but the $10-$20 range has remained active.
Great to see Luis Saez at the top of the wins board - his aggressive riding style has been paying off against the clutch-and-grab set. The turf sprint win in the Coronation Cup on Monday was an excellent example. Also, have been very impressed with how well Ricardo Santana Jr. has been riding. |

Tells me when to bet not who
With the three leaders being Carmouche, Ortiz, and Lezcano you know they are very good and professional, you are going to get a good ride on them and the true stat would be the return on investment when they have a $20.00 horse.
Of course, you would have to factor in multiple entries that are running under the same conditions I.E. two more horses that will pay $20.00 or more with one of the other two riders aboard :D :$: |
I'm not sure if it is still true, but at one point not that long ago (maybe a year or two) there was only 1 active jockey with a +career R.O.I.
Junior Alvarado Can anyone verify this or find out if that has changed? |
as i said before
hard to believe but this is fact out of all races run in northamerica
9 out of every 10 races is won by a horse paying 20 dollars or less 91 % over last 25 years |

Thanks for doing this. I think before the Saratoga meet I had the preconceived notion that the biggest payoffs and the most big payoffs would come from the turf races and probably the maiden turf races, but that was not so. 27 of the bigger payoffs came from dirt races and 20 from turf. 22 were dirt sprints and 9 were turf sprints. 5 were dirt routes and 11 were turf routes. 11 of the dirt sprints were maidens and none of the dirt routes were. 7 of the turf sprints were maidens 4 of the turf routes were.
Sorry, no intention to highjack your post. Just thought it might be interesting to break it down a little further. |
