One of the better Schuylerville renewals I can remember.

RHT2004 07-18-2017 08:23 PM

The 4th is loaded. Mott's horse intrigues me.

RHT2004 07-18-2017 08:51 PM

Loved Defiant Honors last probably going to single her.

Its a good race, but I think that Mott horse is overbet off the Honest Lady in the pedigree.

I like the Godolphin horse cutting back off the layoff, probably was never meant to route and his mdn win is better than anything in here. It is a deep field so hopeful the betting goes favorable.

Takaful could be a big time sprinter, but there looks to be a lot of speed. Can he rate? Im not sure. I have to use him defensively, I am a little concerned with him being a recent gate scratch at Belmont.
Hard Scramble could trip out at like 12-1.

10 pnt move up 07-18-2017 11:25 PM

I think the 7th race is kind of interesting. Messi and Highland Sky look like the two best horses but Infinite Wisdom ran too well to lose last time and if they let him go he certainly can beat this group, though its better than his last foes. Not sure what to make of the Chad Brown horse, his last certainly was not good.

I like Messi, a lot. Highland Sky is always bet and Chad will be bet. 3-1 is fair on Messi IMO.

IW looks like the only speed.

He wasn't a gate scratch.

Who are the 5 you think are live in the Lake George? Im very curious. I think Toners horse could be special.

What is does "special" mean?

Probably about three minutes. He ran off, with Jose on him, after the post parade, and was so out of control that he made an entire loop around the track. The Stewards chose to scratch him. Sure seemed like the right call for everyone involved.

Definitely, I wasn't questioning the decision. He is obviously head strong during his races, my point was he could get hooked early.

I know. I was just clarifying the situation.

He's too headstrong for his own good. Maybe he will win, he's very talented, but horses like that are poor bets at short prices.

Is this because the field is evenly matched? It seems rather so so talent wise, i wasnt really able to separate them much.

In this day and age, horses are almost never going to come into this race with more than 1 or 2 starts. With that said, this is a pretty stout group in that they all earned solid speed figures thus far, and the pair of stakes winners did so against males and in a very fast race.

The Schuylerville has had some future GI winners and some rather subpar winners. This feels like a running where the winner will end up being OK.

Hate to side with you but when i handicapped Tuesday I was hoping for 3-1 on Defiant Honor then I saw 10-1.

See... Everyone can get along. Atta boys!

Alabama Stakes 07-20-2017 03:07 PM

I was only asking who was making it, not complaining about it. Joe rockhead is the one griping about it.

I think you're not remembering how weak on figures this race usually is. And no, it doesn't hurt that they're evenly matched and coming from all different directions. Fascinating race.

Didnt you want to try and have civil educated racing talks? Im doing my part. Staying out of selections, etc..... I'm not complaining I'm saying i believe at post time there is no way Defiant Honor is even half her ML. Shes a 7-2 shot.

A lot of people like this horse so odds will come down. But looking at this field the 10-1 is a fair opening line. There are A ton stakes winners in the race that deserve to be lower odds. Sweeping Paddy is my choice in a fun event

She's a player, but she totally tripped out last time.

Sweeping Paddy's last was spectacular. I'm just concerned about her running well outside of KY.

Everyone can have Defiant Honor. I like Party Boat.

I also think this horse might be getting a little too much credit versus these established graded winners, and the fact that there looks to be pace in this race so i would be shocked to see her alone on an easy lead. I'm often wrong, but i feel like this race is pretty logical, 11-1.

Dream Dancing gets away from division stalwarts La Coronel and New Money Honey finally. She owns a win from the outside post on this course (her maiden win) last year. She's had a bit of trouble/disadvantage her last 3: wide and left too much to do at Keeneland; hard held when lacking room on the far turn at Churchill; and having to challenge early in the slow pace dictated by New Money Honey in the Wonder Again.

Won't have to come out of her comfort zone again with stablemate Victory To Victory--who has a world of speed--in there to ensure a contentious pace.

10 pnt move up 07-21-2017 03:34 PM

That was a very tough beat...not too happy with the ride I suppose.
