I am playing that Classic exacta. I am also playing Bernardini on top of Giacomo. The grey guy likes Churchill, too.:D I agree on the Distaff. Is George Washington in the Mile????

Bernardini 10-20-2006 01:49 PM

I hope GW runs, even thought too soon to say any thing about whoes going where, but I like to take a crack at it !!
I forgot about Giacimo, I wonder if late runners will benifit from this years Classic or the top three LM, Invasor, B'dini are too good for the rest??

lemoncrush 10-20-2006 02:16 PM

Too early for me to make predictions..
I assume Steve or the mods here will make a STICKY thread for each of the BC races, where everyone can share there thoughts and predictions. At least that will be an easy way to keep things organized.

cakes44 10-20-2006 02:28 PM

As long as Pegasus Wind gets a reasonable post, he'll finish ITM in the Juvenile.

I hope he's in the starting gate, he'll set a nice pace for CQ to run down.

kgar311 10-20-2006 02:36 PM

Pegasus Wind is a nice big horse. Got caught by scat in his last only because of the huge stretch at belmont. He would of the caught the wire in front at any other track that day. Shorter stretch and getting his own way on the front again and hes no worse then second.

Thunder Gulch 10-20-2006 04:49 PM

I predict I'll drink a bunch of beer/juleps.:D I'll reserve much comments on the race outcomes until I see the full pp's on Wednesday before.

good call.

i predict i will be wildly hungover from too many hours of open bar at a wedding reception the night before.

i also predict me not caring, and going to arlington trackside to make my bets at 10 am, and then getting drunk again at my hotel while i watch it.

randallscott35 10-20-2006 11:36 PM

Bernie,
you are going to cut your mouth on all that chalk.

Churchill's stretch is much longer than Belmont's, and the Juvy is around two turns also.

alysheba4 10-21-2006 09:56 AM

i am keeping my fingers crossed that they all make it sound by race day...... this is 1 awesome horse race. i have become an instant fan of george being that his granndpa is sheba:) i know its a very tall order but he is obviously a talented classy horse.

Slewbopper 10-21-2006 10:01 AM

And talking about stretch lengths, the inner dirt stretch at Aqueduct is longer than the main track. Doesn't make sense, but it is true.

Slewbopper 10-21-2006 10:19 AM

I think that people just assume Belmont has to have a long stretch because of the 1 1/2 mile circumference of the track. Actually, it is about the same distance from the beginning of the stretch to the finish as it is from the finish to the clubhouse turn. The 6 furlong pole is directly across from the finish line. Most tracks have the finish line closer to the clubhouse turn than the head of the stretch ala Churchill and Santa Anita

jpops757 10-21-2006 10:19 AM

with these full fields and the post psitions some will draw, the best horse dosent always win. Trip, pace, and luck will put at least one double diget odd horse in the winners circle. Finding a loose on the lead, uncontested lead winner can lead to a bomb. Bad break out of the gate. Traffic problems. Pace melt down. Something as simple as a horse running the race of his or her life.

Those are good picks, but George Washington is running in the Classic. I like Cacique over EC, and CQ to beat Scat Daddy. Fleet Indian would be my Distaff choice. I like all your other picks though.

SCUDSBROTHER 10-21-2006 10:57 AM

I predict that Giacomo will be interested in running only if there is a nice pace to chase(otherwise he really could care less.)I am not making fun of him.I just know what he likes, and he likes to have horses runaway from him(and then he gets his rocks off by collecting them one by one.)So,I think he can make the tri if they cook it for him.My guess is that this is a situation where many of these riders have nothing to lose, and they know they can't win unless they do something to throw Bernadini off somehow(reminds me of the Smarty Jones Belmont.....People think Bernadini can't get beat, but he is enemy #1 for every other jock in there.)

Danzig 10-21-2006 02:59 PM

surprised that premium taps people have decided to enter....i guess no news from suave means he won't be there.

if there speed entered, than i would use giacomo and/or perfect drift underneath. huge question mark on geo washington and david junior. DJ is the real deal, but dirt is the HUGE question mark.

i'll be pulling for pine island.
as for the juvies, i doubt point ashley is going. don't really care who wins either one.
i am looking forward to the day as a whole. only horse i really plan to 'root for' is pine island. all the others i'll just watch and enjoy the best take on each other.

i think Premium Tap deserves to be there, and I really think he hits the board if not threatens to win it! -OK, maybe a bit over-optimistic, but I really think he won't shame himself in this spot.

i don't mean i'm surprised due to thinking he doesn't belong...i'm just surprised since they said after his last win that they really weren't interested.

Maybe they think they have the better of the TWO PLEASANT TAP HORSES on the dirt.:D

certainly not the better of the two pleasant tap horses overall :)

but on the dirt, he just may be.

i like the other better in the classic, though there's no fighting pleasant tap's gutsiness.

George Washington is pointing to the Classic.

I like a lot of your picks, and will probably use a lot of the same horses.

i think most of those are logical picks -- while i haven't made up my mind yet as i haven't really compared all the horses side by side with who they will be running against yet....i would say this:

Juvenile Fillies: Dreaming of Anna/Cotton Blossom (Sutra also, as slow as molasses as she is, if i decide that the pace is going to be wicked)
Juvenile: Street Sense
FM Turf: Ouija Board/Vacare as a bomber if she goes
Sprint: Bordonaro, and while I doubt she'd go, I'd take Malibu Mint in a second as well -- trying to stay away from the obvious here
Mile: Gorella
Distaff: Happy Ticket/Round Pond
Turf: Shirocco/Cacique/Better Talk Now
Classic: Invasor/David Junior/Bernardini in that order

Danzig 10-22-2006 07:31 PM

just saw news on suave, he is being pointed to the classic....will retire to stand stud in '07 for 17.5k.

hey oracle, see, they do announce fees for some before they officially retire!

dellinger63 10-22-2006 09:12 PM

Bernie, in the Classic take it from the horse's mouth or at least the trainer's. 'Bernie is the best I've had'. Good enough for me but for all nay sayers that's why there are mutual pools.

Im not an exotics player in the form of exactas, tris, or anything else.
I play w/p and pick 4s.
so what I say in this area may be completely worthless.
but if I had to play one exacta for the entire day, as of now, it would be Bernardini/David Junior boxed.
they seem like the 2 most logical 1-2 finishers of the entire day.

Hope all is well.

yeah,
no value.
well, it will pay something if DJ comes in, but its not something I am going to invest in.
like I said, I simply dont play exactas, tris, or supers.

lol, awesome sticker. I hope she does run. would be a lot of fun to watch her humiliate herself over the course of an entire campaign.

all is well, back in TX now.
hope all is ok for you.
you are still in Chicago right?
sucks that the IL Horseman's association could work something out with TVG.
I still watch The Thorne on HRTV, but I wish it was on TVG.
is there any talk of it around the track?

I plan on putting $50 WP on Happy Ticket and although many are disagreeing, I think that Perfect Drift has got a good shot to win the BCC. :D

you know,
I disagree with the selection, but the Happy Ticket thing is not totally off.

she beat what I considered the best older female at the time at Churchill Downs earlier this year at the same distance of the BCD.

PDrift is a very game performer, but when you cant hold off Seek Gold, you are not going to beat Bernardini.

The only given so far is Exacta in the Turf

Cacique/EC just wondering how much it will pay??

Cacique 3/1
EC 4/1???

Most here see Hawthorne and laugh. Haven't made a wager there all year. Splitting time between Chi. and Lake Geneva as that's where the G/F and kids live. Saw a black bear this w/e up north though. Can't hunt though as I'd rather kill a human than an animal.

lmao,

thats the best line Ive read since I have been on this forum.

I like betting Hawthorne b/c it has a dirt track and a turf course.
thats something I cant say about every track running at this time of year.
forget Woodbine,
forget KEE,
and now forget Hollypark.

you know thats totally dependent on who shows from Europe.
if Shirocco and a few other show, you would get at least that.
if not,
then those are going to be your 2 favs.

what sucks is that the Tin Man is not running.
he would have taken a lot of stupid(and a mean really stupid) money.

for what its worth (not much b/c I will not cap it until Nov 3 at 6PM), but here are initial thoughts.

BCJ-dont really care, but go with CQuay. if nothing else, it will p*ss the polytrack guys off.
BCJF-really dont care. PAshley if she runs. I have a friend named Ashley and she is really hot.
BCMFT-go deep. Vacare has a shot to hit at a price.
BCS-Bordonaro seems the most likely winner.
BCM-Librettist. Aussie Rules and Gorella rounding out the tri.
BCD-Spun Sugar. same reason as CQuay and I think she is the best of the Pletcher fillies.
BCT-uh, who is coming? Shirocco if he runs. If not, English Channel is the best of the US horses.
BCC-Bernardini. DJunior is the unknown and the next most likely winner. what does that say about the field as compared to Bernardini?
