AP Stud Fee. Any guesses?
Your guess as to how high his stud fee will be, first year?
$175K?
100k
better yet...how many times will he "breed" the first year?
100K

It's 200 grand per shot lol
Well they announced Pioneerof the Nile at $125k and that "might go up" after the breeders cup. I imagine they want to price Pharoah over his sire, so maybe $150/175k?
I'm interested what Empire Maker stands for. |
At least $200k.
250k

But. But. But. As awesome a race horse he is, he's unproven in the shed. I'd really be surprised if it's more than POTN, and no will know what kind of real runners he'll have for 2-3 years.
Better question: which mares will be taking numbers to wait in line? First off, mares with owner's with deep pockets. :$::$::$:
Doesn't it look bad if they don't go over Pioneer of the Nile's fee? Empire Maker entered at $100,000. Ghostzapper went in at $200,000 though it fell relatively quickly.
I'll say $200,000 for AP. Incidentally, here is the stallion page of Pioneer of the Nile, who sired American Pharoah and Athens, the impressive (maybe) winner of the...Bangalore Oaks! |
I believe he is actually standing for $225K. Who is actually paying that is a better question.
I will never understand how anyone could pay four times as much money to breed to American Pharoah as they will likely have to pay for Honor Code, assuming they go to a new sire. Or how about paying a similar amount to breed to Tapit? |

How about first...,
Match Race of this century . AP v. Beholder |

A better question is 225k for AP first year vs. Frankel who I think was 100k pound sterling.. How does that happen. Only a few breeding to race that aren't Coolemoore or Zayat mares will go to him at 225K. Because it makes no sense |
i wonder what the line is for tomsula and the 49er's gm to be fired...
So they arent breeding back Ivan to M'Doro? Wow think that thru they have a brilliant Filly and they arent going back to the stallion and paying up on the fee. It's breeding.... nuts
Empire Maker is standing for 100,000 at Gainesway, NO WAY in Hell I pay more to breed to Pioneer of the Nile!! American Pharoah is a phenom so I can see the excitement of his first crop, especially considering what Ghostzapper stood for and Pharoah did significantly more, but the bargain of the bloodline is the original, proven source, I'd book Empire Maker !

That's what DRF was tweeting.
Only a baseless guess.....$250,000

Official. 200k

If we're talking about on-track performances, I don't think I'd agree that AP did more than Ghostzapper. http://www1.drf.com/row/pps/ghostzapper.pdf |

Wow. That is some roster.. Uncle Mo, Munnings and Declaration are strong 'next generation' stallions.. and Stay Thirsty is going to hit too based on the early sales.
And emboldened by the success of their fiercest rival, Darley went out and snatched a stallion for the future...Nyquist! Who of course happens to be by a Coolmore stallion.
I'm shocked but not. What would make a breeder go to Pharoah (unproven at 200k) and POTN ($125k and not so hot once you get past Pharoah) when you can go to Empire Maker for the "bargain basement deal" of $100k? Mind boggling, this breeding business.

What would American Pharoah's fee have been if he was whisked away after the Belmont? Gotta be lower right?
