Belmont Tickets
Got Belmont tickets yesterday. All that was available was the Mosh Pit of Grandstand GA. Was disappointed I can't bring my drone this year. In fact, I don't think I can bring anything. Not even a pot to piss in when they close the bathrooms again.
I love Belmont, but not on that day. They should take notice from CD who seriously cleaned up their image for Customer Service this year. I remember the Smarty Jones year and my wife has never gone to the track since. NYRA was bad in who they let into the track. I saw one kid with 2 30 packs of beer and two fifths of vodka in his pockets let in. I saw an 80 year old lady pee in a bush. I saw people being taken out in ambulances after being hit by full beer cans being just tossed into the crowd. It was awful and the Nassau County cops were awful. In fact, Nassau County is awful. Who turns the water off to an event like that ? |
If it is so awful, then why would you get tickets? :zz:
|
Amazing you come on say you got tickets then bash the day, track and county. Db post of the month

There are horrible Trolls here and I never realized what one was until I came here.
NYRA has been awful in recent years when a TC is on the line. None of you were there, I can tell that. Imagine your mother or grandmother peeing on a bush because they closed the bathrooms. I saw the shame on that woman's face. I don't have to worry about that this year because they won't get that crowd. |

You took an opportunity to bash NYRA for the way they conduct the Belmont Stakes while at the same time telling us you are going anyway. You are just another NYRA basher who refuses to consider the facts. Has Belmont Stakes day had its problems? Absolutely, but NYRA has taken a significant number of steps to improve the experience which you want to ignore. They spent millions upgrading the LIRR platform for this year and worked with the LIRR to significantly increase the number of trains. They have also capped the number of people who they let in to better manage the crowds. The Granny peeing in the bush? She could not use one of the 50 or so porta potties they have in the back of the park? If you want to talk about the one real aspect where they deserve criticism it is the ushers allowing people without tickets to steal seats from people who purchased them, that is where they have to do something. I also love the swipe you have taken at AP suggesting he won't win the Preakness which now just about locks it up for him. However, the BS you have thrown out here is nonsense. If you don't like it, here is a wild suggestion doucebag, don't go. This is a board where those who are informed won't let trolls like you throw out nonsense to those who are new to the game. Feel free to go to one of the number of boards where people like you can get away with your nonsense, it won't happen here. |
I've gone up for Secreteriat, Affirmed and Seattle Slew and all the chances in between. I go to the races. Criticism is unwarranted here.

I didn't say anything about American Pharoah.
Hope the venting worked well for you. And the name-calling. Maybe made your day, in a small way. |

Makes no sense. Read the posts. No mention of AP. Only in your posts. The porta-potties had lines of like 100 when the bathrooms were closed. I've probably been one of the biggest supporters of NYRA over the years.
Plus, I'm not a douchebag. Never have been and never been called that by anyone who knows me. Only by people I don't know on the internet. . Have some respect for people. |

Have some respect for an organization that you are unfairly bashing. |
Won't get the crowd of old ladies or seniors. They had such a bad experience. I'm the oldest person I know who is going to go.

That is hilarious. As I said, you are the one who should not go if you don't like it. I promise you there will be plenty of ladies (many of whom will be dressed to the nines) and seniors who will be there. Keep the shovel digging here. |
Plus not unfairly bashing. Last year was a glaring example. NYRA can handle big days but not the Belmont Stakes. They do a great job on 30-40 thousand people at Belmont and Saratoga, but it becomes a fiasco when they get 90,000.
CD is different. They get 70,000 on Oaks and 170,000 on Derby, then they get 3,000 every other day. They gear for those days. |
Glad you are having a good time. Notice I never said anything negative about you, wouldn't do that.
Never said anything negative about AP, either. Will see if NYRA makes things better this year. Last year was horrifying with the train station on verge of collapse. I could feel it shaking and bending. I felt lucky to get out with my life. |

If you were lucky to get out with your life, why are you going back? |
How bizarre

I got a lot of insults and you admitted I haven't said anything bad about you. I don't do stuff like that. Why do I go ? I want to see Racing History. It's pretty simple. Would I go to Belmont when there isn't a TC on the line, yes, it's a great day. I went to all those Woody Stephens Belmonts.
I've been in the racing business 40 years and I'm not a douchebag or dense. |
Cannot comment on Belmont day but I have been for the BC. While I am lucky enough to be in LA and to have attended quite a few Breeders Cup days I have to say that the one at Belmont was by far my favorite.
It was an extraordinary day and I hope that newer fans, in particular, are not put off by any comments here. It is a beautiful and historic track and very hard to imagine some of the negativity posted here. |

To say that there is no way that they would reach the cap doesn't mesh with the facts. The last five times there has been a triple crown attempt on the line, on-track attendance has been at least 94,476 (Big Brown) all the way up to 120,139 for Smarty Jones. If anything, the recent trend in racing has been that "marquee" dates like triple crown and breeders cup are increasing in attendance, as evidenced by the record crowd for Oaks/Derby last weekend. I wouldn't want to battle the crowds but an increasing number of people want to be witness to history and are willing to be inconvenienced to do so.

Absolutely agree that there are some consolations to be made at a big event. However, look at the income. GA is $15 and seating more. That will be more than 2 or 3 mil on admissions alone. Add that much or more beer and food and then 5% of a 100 million handle and it adds up. We're talking 10 to 15 million on this day.
Do I begrudge NYRA making this money ? No. Can they do better, yes. |

* That your dog is trained by Steve Byk ATR * That you bash an entity, county and police force in charge of throwing a big event and that you barely got out with your life last year while saying that you bought tickets to the same event this year. * That you have made enough wagering to pay off your mortgage. * That you call people a troll and then say you never said anything negative about them. * That AP hardly broke a sweat in the Kentucky Derby. * That you told Bob Baffert years ago when you met him to call you if he needs any advice. You avoid saying stupid things like that and post things that are credible and make sense and you will be fine. Though I would not recommend coming on after the Derby and posting in several threads that you love winning and it feels so good to pick the right horse when you picked the favorite in the Derby. |

But I would suggest, if I may be so bold, that you should try and lighten up a bit, relax and don't take everything everybody says so seriously or personally . . . you'll feel better and live longer that way. You appear to be, among others here, strung as tight as a cheap Timex and you know what happens to cheap Timex watches. No hard feelings on my part. Peace and brotherhood and since I'm older and pretty much set in my ways . . . well I probably spell potato differently than you do and always will. :D:wf;) Now on to more important stuff like the Preakness and other pertinent horse racing talk. |
Are you Easy Goer Otis' alter ego or something?
