pointman 08-17-2014 12:05 PM

That is the most maddening, f****** incredible incompetence of riding maybe thus far at the meet. Did any of those bozos think they were going to catch the speed going those kind of fractions?

I love how I took the 4 because I thought would be on the lead, horse breaks great and Saez drags back. Bunch of dolts. Hard to play seriously with that kind of riding. :wf:wf

Pants II 08-17-2014 12:08 PM

There needs to be some transparency.

I want to know how many jockeys are getting drug tested and given breathalyzers each day.

It needs to be done considering this is a "vacay" type meet. And the jockeys are acting as such.

It's beyond a joke right now. These slow pace turf races destroying the game. Or at least my interest in it.

It is hard for me to understand what is going through the minds of these morons that are 5 or more lengths off a crawlfest like that, do they actually think horses are going to come back to them?

It is an absolute joke and makes you wonder why you waste your money if these guys can't think about the strategy of the race they are in. 1:18 to 3/4, 1:43:2 to a mile, how do they think they have any shot to make up ground? It is absolute BS and they should be called in to explain themselves.

:tro:

Took a saver on the 4 for the same reason figuring it was a pace less race. In retrospect should have just stayed out of it and satisfied playing the pic4. But nooooo.....

Looking back at the race, I am wondering why I would play the McLaughlin with Angel Arroyo over the one with Irad Ortiz on it. Having said that, on paper the 2 was much more accomplished. Credit Irad who has taken advantage of putting his horse in some races where seemingly the other jocks have no desire to win the race.

I also wonder at this point how Luis Saez is getting quality mounts in New York, or anywhere for that matter. He is awful, should be riding in Florida right now.

Wonder how many jocks were told to lay back?

Your point is well taken, while we always complain that these guys drag back because that is what we see, obviously what we don't see is the conversations before the race where the trainers give instructions.

However, once the gates open, a jock has to assess the race, if your horse breaks well and no one else wants the lead, screw the instructions, go for the lead. They get paid when they win and it is their job to evaluate and adapt to situations once the gates open.

ADJMK 08-17-2014 12:24 PM

Of course I took 5 horses in the first leg and left the one out. Better watch out for K Mc. His barn is heating up

These are a bunch of plugs. I don't get the 2 at all at 2-1, horrid favorite. The 3 is ok. Going to take a shot on the 6 who has some back races that make her competitive against a sorry bunch like this. Just hope it is a fairly run race.

That's why. Because Ortiz and Mejias are stupid no good scumbags.

Checked at the first turn. Probably wouldn't have made any difference.

It's just how this meet is. Chalk winning and then assholes bragging about having it.

In Saratoga's third race, while Abel Lezcano was already on the whip midway on the far turn, the pace was honest with 24.44 and 48.14 being posted - one of the more honest turf pace events. Lezcano tried to gut the field and wound up gutting his mount as that horse was all over the stretch.

The board told the story on Tammy the Torpedo (#9, Rosario). Originally on my ticket, I dropped her thinking about all of the outside horses that have been hung three and four wide in these 8f and 8.5f turf events. The pace greatly helped as did Rosario finding a pocket.

Amy's Image showed nothing and that second in a four horse field was a better than it actually was experience. Is it just me or has Johnnie V. been a shell of himself this meet? Nothing is firing in its usual Saratoga form.

Castellano's Eskenformoney was dead on the board for some reason - and was a clear second best.
