NFL Draft

Through 3 picks in the first round, nothing unexpected...Then the Bills give up a #1 and a #2 next year to move up to 5 spots from 9 to 4 to get Sammy Watkins. Now we get to see if Manuel is the real deal.

hi_im_god 05-08-2014 07:51 PM

I know Bortles going to Jacksonville #3 isn't a complete surprise but I still think it qualifies as a small one.

I had him in the 2nd tier.

knickslions2 05-08-2014 08:07 PM

Browns pick interesting at 8

Rudeboyelvis 05-08-2014 08:09 PM

Cleveland bein' Cleveland...

Passes on Carr/Bridgewater/Manziel to take a CB with the 9th overall :zz:

YOU DO NOT HAVE A QUARTERBACK!

I said it last season, it must be exhausting being a Browns fan :(

That's the most pleasant way it will ever be put.

Seriously, WTF?

hi_im_god 05-08-2014 08:19 PM

What's wrong with Hoyer? He looked great until the injury.

hi_im_god 05-08-2014 08:25 PM

And Bridgewater will probably still be around for the #26 pick if they want him.

Through 3 games:

CMP%=59.4

YDS=1,231

TD=7

INT=6

Rating=77.4

And potentially injury prone.

If any of the 3 are there at 26 they would be nuts to pass a QB up.

hi_im_god 05-08-2014 08:53 PM

They definitely need a decent backup. I think you'll see Hoyer start regardless of anyone drafted.

knickslions2 05-08-2014 08:56 PM

Cowboys worst defense in league yet they draft offense. Tough to figure

Pants II 05-08-2014 09:07 PM

Rams with two excellent choices.

Manziel to....Texans?

They need qb but not sure Obrien type of guy

Rudeboyelvis 05-08-2014 09:40 PM

They should just let Gruden bitchslap Mel Kiper Jr. and get it over with. It's coming, just a matter of time.

turned out to be a brilliant strategy. Good for them.

Shame on AZ for not taking a gift in Carr at 27. Plenty of safeties and they already have a future pro bowler in the honey badger.

Carson is 35. Jeez.

He's not.

Cleveland needed Johnny Football in the worst way. Can't wait to see him in the league.

I can't wait to see him, um, get fuking pasted by Vontaze Burfict when he tries that tap dance sh1t outside the pocket.

He'll have to rein in his game some but the guy can ball.

Agree on the talent piece. Time will tell if he can embrace the discipline. Guess that's what makes great coaches.

They spent like he is a first ballot Hall of Famer. Of course I like the pick but they paid way too much.

Rudeboyelvis 05-09-2014 09:00 AM

There was a huge cliff after him IMO. If that's where they were going, I guess they needed to do it, and Cleveland knew full well that they could extort the pick.

He would not have lasted another pick. Oakland or Atlanta would have grabbed him.
And as far as I'm concerned, Mike Evans is no better at 7 than Odell Beckham at 12 who isn't noticably better than Brandin Cooks at 20. The Bucs wasted a draft pick rather than trade down for some later round picks. But none of the 3 come close to Sammy Watkin's talent.

Cleveland's 1st round draft was impeccable. They get a 1st and 4th rd. pick next year and still got Manziel.

I like Beckham a lot, but Evans is really good. The concerns about him are clear, that he played in a specific system that doesn't always translate, but he is everything you want in a modern receiver in my opinion.

New Orleans is going to annoy the s.hit out of everyone with Cooks, who was an excellent pick.

It was expected, both because of the current league composition and the players available, but the lack of importance of running backs could not be clearer at this point.

Agree completely - all 3 are great prospects - my only point was that I feel the Bucs overspent at 7 when they could have complemented Vincent Jackson with Cooks at 20, and been fairly equal.

Evan's knock is that he's one dimensional, but like you said, that well could have been the system he played in.

Tampa is going to be thrilled they have him, but I would have preferred a move down for an early 2nd round pick, taken any one of the 3 left with the move down, and grabbed a blue chip QB with the newly acquired second round pick. Maybe that was never a possibility, but you'd think they would have at least pursued something like that...

Lovie is on record as saying that Glennon is the future - they didn't give Mcknown 8 mil to carry a clipboard and highly doubt that they will not entertain the idea of a QB, though O line has to be their next priority.

ateamstupid 05-09-2014 10:56 AM

Evans is a monster. Big, strong, athletic with great hands. Doesn't have blinding speed but is fast enough to get behind a defense. He reminds me of Brandon Marshall.

Tons of good receivers in this draft. Hoping the Jets grab Jordan Matthews in the 2nd round.

I swear there was a point where it almost happened. Mel Kiper had to reach over and pat him on the back like he was just joking around and Gruden gave him the Chuckie stare like, "dude, you are in the wrong house"

Pants II 05-09-2014 12:24 PM

Ray Lewis was tired of hearing about Johnny Cleveland.

Danzig 05-09-2014 12:30 PM

i wonder what went thru johnnys head as more and more got chosen ahead of him...

poor guy, cleveland is a tough place to go to.

i have a feeling he's not the only one who'd like to have a 'talk' with mel.

On draft day I wish they would let Mel talk more. All Gruden said every pick was that he spent an hour with Johnny and they should take him. Lewis would wait till the pick was in and then argue a case for whomever was picked. Berman Is just an @ss clown at this point. If you want the picks before they are announced follow Jason La Confora on twitter most are a few minutes before they are announced.

Redskins are on the clock. I hope they get some O-line help to protect RG3! Not that we couldn't use a CB as well.

Traded down with Dallas, picking up an extra pick in a later round. Dallas goes D-fense i would think.

Rudeboyelvis 05-09-2014 06:55 PM

Bucs go with a 6'5" TE to match their 6'5" WR. TE was a huge hole last year though the kid from Rutgers was serviceable. Really need some O line help now.

Tackle UVA Morgan Moses 6'6 314, good to have some BEEF! Another pick coming up at 78.

Man it's gonna be so funny seeing how many idiots get in trouble for neanderthal reactions to Michael Sam in the next few days.

Well people are tired of the agenda being RAMmed down their throats.

:D

Calzone Lord 05-11-2014 05:17 AM

Maybe the Rams can feature Michael Sam in a re-mix:

It's funny how Tim Tebow was mocked for his faith and this guy is gushed about to the extent that it's sickening already and he hasn't even played a snap yet.
Could you imagine the outrage (most of it fake) if one of the talking heads talked as negative about Sam as the majority did about Tebow.
