Between his work in front and behind the camera, Harold Ramis was responsible for some many comedy classics! Caddyshack, Vacation, Animal House, Groundhog Day, a brilliant comedy mind! RIP.

we just watched the story of the making of caddyshack last night. a great talent, both behind and in front of the camera.

That's a great documentary.

I have a friend who is still upset that Egon and Janice were split up for the sequel.

when i got this job that i've had for almost three years now, i had to go to some training. we were separated into groups of four, and each 'team' had to come up with a name for the team, a slogan, and a mascot.
our mascot was my idea--the staypuft marshmallow man. we were wracking our brain for a team name, and our mentor said 'hurry up'..i said do you know how hard it is to come up with a random name that's good?!
and the light bulb came on...team random, stay puft as our mascot...and our slogan was whatever random word came into our heads any time we had to yell it. good times.
i loved his movies, just loved them.

Old enough (unfortunately) to remember him from the SCTV days back in the late 70's....John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara, Harold Ramis, and Dave Thomas... You knew as the head writer he was going to go on to amazing heights even back then... So very sad.

I remember that show as well - very funny :tro:

When Martin Short had his Jiminy Glick show, he would sometimes have the SCTV veterans on and they were always the best guests because their improv background was so strong they could go toe-to-toe with him. His "interview" with Catherine O'Hara was like watching the comedy equivalent of two world-class aerialists. I searched on Youtube yesterday, hoping he'd had Harold Ramis on, but no luck.

My husband and I were speculating which of Ramis' films will be funny to our kid when he's old enough to watch them (since comedy changes over time). I don't know about Caddyshack (much as I loved it) but I think Vacation and of course, Ghostbusters, will hold up for a very, very long time. Vacation is funnier to me now than it was when I saw it as a kid (it was my very first rated-R movie).

my kids are all in their 20's, and love all those movies. vacation will always stand up, because families always take hilarious vacations. (hopefully not quite as over the top as chevy and co's, but still!).
as long as there is golf, i think caddyshack will be funny. it's just a funny movie.

So sad. A brilliant comic mind. The wellspring of so many favorite film moments. Tribute on ATR today.

after going to the matinee show of Animal House the day it opened at the Sack Pi Alley in town, i was in pain from laughing so hard. Must have went back 10 times with groups of different friends to see it again. It's awesome when you rave about a movie and everyone is in agreement. Might also have been the last time I was right about anything...." Oh Bluto, we might get in trouble" lol

So sad...one of the greatest comedic talents during my generation. His legacies will live on much to aour enjoyment. RIP Mr. Ramis....

"Lighten up Francis"...one of my absolute favorite lines from any movie. I use it all the time and there are damn few people who don't smile at it. :-)
