Playing Australia tonight?
Well okay I'm not, not tonight, but figured we needed a new thread for the new year and besides.... had to post the barrier draw for Saturday!
Can't wait. :) http://www.racingandsports.com.au/en...gID=37851&pp=1 http://www.smh.com.au/sport/horserac...107-30ein.html |
In the Guineas I think I'm going to use Bring a Ring  on top of the favorites (Sweet Idea, Enquare, Weinholt).
Still looking at the Classic but I think Unencumbered is beatable. I'm looking at Oakleigh Girl who I'd imagine will be a low odds (3rd favorite after Invisible?) but also at Celestial Dragon (that would make a great rags to riches story if he won :) ), Stroak and Divine Service. Still pondering the rest of the card... Good luck if you're playing tonight. |
I play Australia almost every night;)
However, I do like to watch the board so I may post some picks but later. |

Good luck if you're playing tonight (you too dagolfer). (... and Cardus, if you're around). |
I also like the 12 in the Classic.
I'm going to tri it, 1,12/1,6,7,11,12/1,6,7,11,12 $24 gl!!! |
:wf
Cheers to the winnahs and congrats to the Berrys. |
I was going to sit out the first at Randwick cause of the highly anticipated debut of Rubick but instead think I will play the filly Twirl to beat him.
Keeping it simple with straight win bets: (Sorry for merely listing the race # and not the proper names) R2 - Harry Hotspur R3 - Mr. Scary R4 - Vilanova I'm Imposing in the Cup (R6) (Brigantin and Travolta are both beatable) R7 - Recoinage I think it'll be a pretty chalky day at Caulfield (Iconic, Quick Snitzel) but will try to beat Limes in the 6th (looking at Gondokoro). Silk Pins in R1 (my one concession to sentimentality) R5 - Spirits Dance R8 - Instrumentalist Good luck to the older gents, Mr. Slick and Jungle Heat, in the 4th at Eagle Farm and to anyone playing tonight. |
Sucked for the most part.... Twirl a nice 2nd to Rubick who lived up to the hype and the filly Create seems to be okay which is always good news.
Thanks Spirits Dance for saving my ass (Instrumentalist won as well). Had the wrong longshot over Limes... Aus C Caulfield 1 4 Spirits Dance $31.60 $12.90 $3.60 2 5 Whistle Baby - $4.60 $2.70 3 6 Orvieto - - $2.10 4 9 Just Too Hard - - - Aus C Caulfield #8 Race #8 11:38pm POS # Horse Win Place Show 1 6 Instrumentalist $7.70 $4.40 $4.20 2 13 Magnapal - $6.20 $5.50 3 10 Reigning - - $4.60 4 8 Altonio |
Can't wait!
Seven Group 1 winners in CF Orr Stakes nominations http://www.thoroughbrednews.com.au/a....aspx?id=71311 |
Damien Browne picks up the mount on Earthquake (Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude) after Kerrin McEvoy is forced to pass due to injury (meanwhile Damien Oliver had been on standby but took another mount yesterday assuming Mc Evoy would ride. Doh!).
Earthquake and Eloping... can't wait. (... and, of course, Polanski, who is cross entered. I'd imagine Robbie Laing will go for it and run him in the Orr. I love this horse). http://www.racingandsports.com.au/en...gID=38643&pp=1 |
... what do I know.
Field of 8 for the Orr Stakes, Polanski to the G2 Autumn Stakes instead. Can't wait! http://www.justhorseracing.com.au/ne...-stakes/243986 |
Playing God injured and out (retired) and now it's looking like Sertorius might be scratched because of the extreme heat.
Too bad... Big fan of Hawkspur and I do like Foreteller but looking elsewhere... NOT looking for a longshot and I wish I'd stop thinking of using him... someone quick talk me out of using Finishing Card. :D (not in the same league BUT I look at his form and keep thinking hmmm why couldn't he jump up (?) and, since I have no strong feelings for Moment of Change, Shamus Award or Eurozone, I might go there afterall :wf). Of course IF Sertorious stays in that changes things. Cannot wait for Polanski who is my lock of the day (moreso than Rubick or Earthquake). Trying to figure out who to use in the Prelude.. Chivalry and Nostradamus are looking really good BUT are drawn so wide... looking at Duckworth right now. Anyone playing tomorrow night? Cardus? Ed? Moodwalker? Dagolfer? |
I will be looking at it tonight miss G, I will give you my thoughts but with this caviat: I'm not in good form right now.;)

Do let me know who you like when you've had a chance to look! |
Ok, I'm ruling out the deeper closers in this race.
(7) Shamus Award (5) Sertorius (3) Moment of Change I wouldn't dissuade you from using the (6), however class wise doesn't fit and last effort was a huge jump up from other efforts. Sertorius looks like price play, maybe exacta keying with 3 or 7. In other news.......I will be trying to find some hidden nuggets in some of the other huge-field races, but it will be a real-time kinda deal so maybe a little late night play-along action:) |

http://www.sportsnews.com.au/horse-r...es-2014/100583 I need to go through the whole card again and yeah I know and agree class wise he isn't quite there. I wish he would stop jumping out at me! (Cute avatar!). |
The odds on tvg are, well... it will be interesting to see what happens tonight but I guess I'll go with Hawkspur in the top spot and, depending on his odds (cause he's at 8/1 now? Okaaaay :D ), do a very small w/p on FC. Not very confident but oh well.
* * * edit - Okay tonight is just not happening for me right now. :wf Good luck, dagolfer! Infection rules $4000 bargain buy Polanski out of race return http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/su...-1226821231567 |
I didnt even play the race, good thing anyways. Chalk.

Well this should be good!
VERY exciting potential field with Streama, Snitzerland and Samaready. (Not thrilled with the thought of running 2 year olds here but what do I know). http://www.smh.com.au/sport/horserac...209-32a1z.html http://www.thoroughbrednews.com.au/a....aspx?id=71427 On Polanski... http://www.races.com.au/2014/02/10/p...s-nominations/ |
|
Incase I don't get a chance to do this later...
Rosehill 6 - LOVE Streama but I always play my girl to win. Win on Steps in Time, ex and tri Steps with Streama and White Sage. Chalky but what can you do? Might toss in Pretty Pins in the 3rd spot... Flemington 6, CS Hayes Stakes, win on Polanski as he will be giving out barrels of free cash. Low odds so bet heavily! R7, Lightning Stakes - Snitzerland to beat Samaready and will use Unpretentious, Boomwaa (and possibly Esprit de Bullet) underneath but yeah... you go Snitzerland! R9 - Our Hand of Faith Good luck if you're playing tonight. |
Damn!
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/su...-1226827612894 Well with Polanski out I'm not touching that one. |

Steps in Time (5/1) was 2nd (Catkins / Steps / White Sage) and Our Hand of Faith was bet down from 8/1 to 5/2 and was 2nd. Of course I have no idea why I mention this as I didn't play either in this spot. My very short night was made by the beautiful Ms. Snitzerland, who I had to win and I also had the exacta because of stupidity (irritated with my big ass play on Puccini over and did a quickie with her over all so not like it's cause of my stellar handicapping haha). What a nice horse she is. Very happy she won and would be even if my tvg account weren't so thrilled (but it is!). :D Aus A Flemington #7 Race #7 9:18pm POS # Horse Win Place Show 1 8 Snitzerland $11.10 $4.60 $4.20 2 1 Shamexpress - $7.60 $4.60 3 7 Samaready - - $3.10 4 2 Pago Rock - - - $2.00 QUINELLA 1-8 $36.80 $1.00 EXACTA 8-1 $31.05 $1.00 TRIFECTA 8-1-7 $78.35 $1.00 SUPERFECTA 8-1-7-2 $1,103.30 |

* * * For tonight... http://www.racingandsports.com.au/ra...UL2202form.pdf |
Caulfield...
1, Finishing Card to win 2, Spirits Dance, Marianne, Bound for Earth boxed 4. Autumn Classic - Vilanova, win 5. Still debating...love Fiorente but not comfortable so I think I might pass 6, Polanski to win and on top of Sizzling, Moment of Change, Bull Point and Sertorius 8, Oakleigh Plate... Bel Sprinter to win and in an exacta (box) with Spirit of Boom and will use Happy Galaxy, Dystopia, Vatican and Iconic in a tri. Blue Diamond - I'm still sorting through but I think I might take Earthquake over Rubick for the win and include Nayeli, Malaguerra, Jabali and Boomwaa in the third spot. Not sure yet though. Randwick... 2 - exacta, Alma's Fury / Monton 3 - The Hotz 4 - Toydini 5 - no point in playing Guelph to win so... Guelph / Thump / Estonian Princess, Sweet Idea (oh also did a super for a dollah). 7 - exacta, Sizzling, Rain Drum / S, RD, Moriarty, Pinwheel, Appearance Good luck if you're playing. |
Racing was awesome with good horses, Appearance and Lankan rupee are stars. Guelph was a bit disappointing and we were already told he can win on talent but was not cranked to do so. Knoydart might get Lankan Rupee at 6 and 7 furlongs, his start compromised his chances yesterday
|
Vilanova, who was at 16/1, saved me. Had a small exacta in the Blue Diamond (Earthquake, Jabali) and had Spirits Dance to win. That's it.

Some exceptional racing here over the weekend. Earthquake was massive, she is one of the best 2yo fillies I have seen. Fiorente was a great win, looked beaten at the 200 but pinned his ears back and had that great will to win. |
Keeping it simple tonight... just a few plays.
Rosehill... R6 (Galaxy) - Bel Sprinter to win and an exacta w/ Via Verde, Rain Affair, Temple of Boom, Sessions (wonder why Snitzerland scratched) R7 (George Ryder)... boxing Streama, Red Tracer, My Kingdom of Fife and Red Tracer R8 - Rosehill Gunieas... you show them what you do best, Puccini! Good luck if you're playing tonight. |
Rosehill 6 $20wp #4

Well I wasn't expecting that one!
Good luck the rest of the way. :) I put in my plays and shall let it be a surprise and check back latah. |
Golden Slipper draw...
http://www.horseracing.com.au/news/2...-barrier-draw/ http://www.smh.com.au/sport/horserac...330-zqoji.html On Earthquake and her (slight) fever... http://www.thoroughbrednews.com.au/s....aspx?id=72440 |
Rosehill...
Sitting out The Schweppervescence (r1) cause it is just coming up too soon. Only a couple of plays and keeping it simple w/ win bets for the most part. R2, Moriarty R3 (Sebring Stks)...Sorry Temple of Boom have to go with Hot Snitzel. M/l is 6/1 and so doing a win bet and a tri with ToB and Bull Point. R4, Catkins is at 4/5 so no point in playing. R5, which is now and very nicely called the Nathan Berry Tulloch... Vilanova to win. R6, bmw, I'm going with Voleuse De Coeurs. Love love love Silent Achiever, Dundeel, Fiorente, and Foreteller BUT... R7, Vinery Stud... you show them, Rising Romance! Doing something I rarely do and tossing 10.to show on All My Loving. R9, have to stay away cause I cannot let the fan thing kick in and the two I like are 50/1 and 30/1 so I will just be happy if they do well (Lucky Chappy and I'm Imposing). R8 is the Golden Slipper and I know how good Earthquake is but I do like Eloping and Law so so far did an exacta with those three on top and tossed in Oakleigh Girl and Bring Me the Maid underneath but am still pondering. Good luck if you're playing and happy Golden Slipper Day. |
I have it on while I sit here handicapping. I will be rooting for all of Tommy's horses to win.
I haven't followed much of the racing over there, except here and there articles so I really have no preference except for maybe Earthquake to win, but would be thrilled even more if Valentia were to win. Good luck to you though with all your wagers. |
Thanks... didn't do well and am still kicking myself for thinking anyone would beat Silent Achiever!
