lawyer ron

i am not sure if this has been brought up. i know lawyer ron can go long, but have they tried to go shorter. he seems keen to go to the front and probably would have won if it was shorter, but is that something that anyone thinks they may try?

1st_Saturday_in_May 09-27-2006 12:38 AM

He's not quick enough to sprint, so races 6f - 7f are out. He's probably not classy enough to beat the top milers in the country, and outside of the Cigar Mile and Met Mile, theres nothing really for milers anyway. He could make some good money in 8.5f races, but theres nothing Grade 1 at that distance either. Have to think that the owners would love to get a Grade 1 win for this one, and if that's teh case its likeliest to come at 9f. Holthus needs to get this horse to rate consistently, and McKee needs to know not to hammerlock him down the backstretch, and if those two happen I think he has the goods to win a Grade 1 next year!

videogirl10 09-27-2006 12:41 AM

i hope so, i really like him. i hope they bring him back next year to get that grade 1.

videogirl10 09-27-2006 12:45 AM

please don't say it is something about retiring him. that would be awful

videogirl10 09-27-2006 01:02 AM

dude what are you talking about, i don't want him to retire. i said that i liked him.

Danzig2 09-27-2006 05:47 AM

'Bamberger said plans are to run Lawyer Ron as a 4-year-old next year if he is sound and racing well.'

that was from the article from way back in may when they sold an interest in the colt after his owner passed away.
it's good news i suppose, since i had thought originally that they planned to retire him at the end of the year....

he will stand at stonewall when he retires.

randallscott35 09-27-2006 07:08 AM

I was more impressed with his effort on Saturday than any of his other races. He was rank as can be and strangled and still finished with interest and was hard to pass. He'll be a really good older horse.

BellamyRd. 09-27-2006 09:18 AM

this lady cut me off yesterday
had Arkansas plates and a bumper sticker
"I love KY-bred Lawyer Ron"
my mood lightens, "Zig?"
waved but she didn't wave back
so it could have been Zig:D
didn't understand the bumber sticker
"Ky-bred" since most of them are KY-bred
"I love Lawyer Ron" would have been sufficient

I don't have a car, either. Maybe we could get tattoos, Mera? I'll get it tatooed on my bottom, which I'm told is one of my best features. Only the best for you, my beloved Ronnie! :)

The Bid 09-27-2006 10:28 AM

Someone let me know when this horse is classy enough to run a mile.

Hilarious. Promise me you'll also get those streamers for the handlebars and a little bell to ring.

Maybe I'll try to get little Lawyer Ron stickers for my rollerblades.

A Kentucky breeders' association (exact name escapes me) has handed out these bumper stickers for years and years at Derby time, with the names of all the Kentucky-bred Derby contenders represented. Green with with letters, always the same format.

Aieee! Now that's a woman who can take pain-- I'm told the ankle is one of the most painful spots to get tattooed because there's no cushion. Is that true?

Ah, Bellamy, an offer almost good enough to make me fly down to KY, but unfortunately, much as I adore that horse, one of my dad's good friends is a lawyer named... you guessed it... and I'm afraid that might cause some problems with his wife. Tee hee.

Heck, if I'm going to seriously consider having needles put in me for more than donating blood, I should probably start small-- like say, get my ears pierced, right? Lawyer Ron earrings, anyone?

I'm not sure how much LR has made in earnings
little over a mill?
well you could add "Kentucky-bred Laywer Ron"
but I'm not sure how big your ass is
hey, even I had my ears pierced
but I was really into the Sex Pistols
ahh well, offer still stands!

Maybe they could do "Kentucky-bred" in a nice arc over "Lawyer Ron." Kind of a moon over lawyer thing. Hee hee hee.
