Matt please provide updates. It is 11 am, how many drinks in you at this point?

Actually just brought home bagels for the family after the gift opening pandemonium. So the drink count is at zero.

ETA for the fun bunch is approximately 1:00. Hopefully it's a quite day on the western front, But I will try to update incidents as they happen.

12:30 mother in-law is on the premises.

First drink is on ice.

bagels from Slims ?

1pm is a here and my brother in law is still about 30 minutes out. That's a good start for me. Still working drink #1.

No idea what Slims is.

1:22 Kids walk into house
1:22:26 Jay comes into house yelling like a manic for Mary to clean some sort of crap from the car.
1:22:46 Jay yells that he's already had enough of these damn maniac kids.
1:24. Jay wants to know when we're opening presents. (he's in rare form)

Off to a fast start. Drink count 2 fast approaching 3

1:30-2:30 opening gifts, kids are being excellent. Jay miserable, doesn't like his gifts. He's like a big baby. My mother in-law gave us some scratch off tickets, Jay lost and I won $10 bucks. I told everyone I won $50 just to annoy him.

2:37 Little Matt is organizing a card game for money. I love that kid.

Drink count holding steady at 3

2:46 card game starts and Jay has refused to help his kids play, he is parked on the couch. After a brief spat with his fiancé I decide to help my nephew Timmy. Things could be starting to come apart here. A drink just hit the ground and Michael and Jake are going nuts. Stay tuned.

3:02 Jay announces he has a headache after doing nothing but complain so far. Michael and Jake just going crazy. Freshening up drink and getting ready to watch Knick game cause nothing else is on. Mary and Timmy yelling at each other while playing cards. I see Matt cheating while everyone else is arguing.

Why is Syracuse playing the Lakers?

3:20 Timmy gets into with his brother Jake. Ends with Jake crying cause I think Timmy hit him, Timmy crying cause his father Jay gave him a shot and then Roxanne yelling at Jay and Mary cause she butt in. Now my mother in law is involved. Roxanne now lecturing everyone while Matt's yelling for them to just deal the cards. Jay's had enough again and is threatening just to go home without even eating. I'm saying a prayer that he goes through with it. I need another drink.

3:41 Dinner is served.

4:12 Dinner winding down and Jay is back on the couch sleeping.

5:15 gettin ready for dessert, kids are being good Jay is still on couch. Im now upstairs watching the end of the Knicks game.

I could use a drink about now. Having a big ice storm. Pine tree has fallen on power lines. My house is all electric. Supposed to get down to about 22 tonight. Wife and I and 2 dogs have evacuated to her workplace. May have to spend the night here. Could be worse. We had our Christmas yesterday.

Not losing any sleep over the Knicks.

5:55 adiaos.

Not as bad as I though, although still enough action to make one's head shake.

Clean up/inspect the damage time.

just got back from seeing django unchained. nothing says christmas like three hours of blood splattering.
good movie, i recommend seeing it.

Christoph Waltz was amazing in it. A must see.

he was great in it, jamie foxx as well. not a leo fan, but he did well. i think samuel l jackson was my least favorite character! the word 'obsequious' came to mind, more than once.

My son in law and two grandsons saw it yesterday. soninlaw said it was OK, oldest grandson said he loved it and younger said it was good...Soninlaw said use of the N word was excessive but that's history...

yeah, it's in there a lot-but considering the time period and action depicted, it's going to be in there.
i'm not a big moviegoer, and i really don't care for some language use (the n word being one i despise-and i've yet to make it thru scarface because of the oh so frequent use of f***) but i can understand it here.

There was quite a stir when Clark Gable said that horrible word 'damn' in Gone with the Wind...:D
