Saratoga Meet Wrap Up Thread
 

I'll use this thread to give overall standings when I get around to it. As for now, I know three things.

One - I already have two winners eclipsing anything I've been able to do. In fact, if I'm not leading this damn thing, I'm right there in the top flight.

Two - Great response so far on the contest with a steller turn out of players. This really is a fun contest and glad all enjoy it.

Three - Those two bourbons went down real smooth and any chance I have of tabulating results tonight has been sidelined until a later date.

First Week Wrap Up
 

Enjoying 4 cancelled flights from 9am this morning and ending up landing only two hours from my original destination (Greenville, SC - Charlotte, NC), has given me a new appreciation for LaGuardia Airport.

And time for the first week recap

Lots of action from the start with a record 23 people winning over the first week. I'll have to check records, but thats way better than the past. Of note, there was a three hour period where I actually was tied for the lead.

But enough about me.

Casp055 (-0.40 4/8) and gamblin4ever(-0.49 4/10) out of the gate flying with the lead in that order with them.

The real surprise is the new and improved Arletta who has thrown away the chalk and busted out of the gate with a $316 winner!

UPDATE for Saturday Morning
 

Long shots have always been the road to success in this game and the last week was proof of that. Starting with Countkniclerboker ($486)who catapulted Brockguy to the lead 2/13 (-0.17 ROI) and also helped djw move into forth 2/3 (-0.30 ROI). For many others it was Majestic Raffy ($360) who helped lift them to to the top 10.

In second is Arletta who is doing a nice job of being bipolar in her pledge against chalk. Yet strangely the strategy is working with 4/14 (-0.20 ROI).

Nine people off the shnide this past week and a mightly close contest indeed as we approach the 1/3 mark of the contest.

Using her new strategy I call Bipolar Chalk - Long Shot, Arletta, a perenial top flight contestant has methodically climbed to the lead. Currently with 5 wins over 16 bets, she's on the brink of turNing a profit for the entire contest with her next winner

Gambling4ever retains second 6/30 (-0.13) and Lava comes out of the clouds to storm into a tie for second with a three pack of winners 4/13 (-0.13)

Of those that have posted winners, we are collectively 74/300 for a 24.7% win rate.

Welcome to the Dr. Arletta show, the female Dr. Phil of horse racing.

She's talking us to task and stomping on all comers. With two more winners, one chalk and one long shot, she's turning a profit with 18 more bets to make at 7/22 and a positive 0.30 she'll be hard to catch.

Mark2061mn sitting in back of the pack leaped to 2nd with a bomb Warrior Up paying $605 claims and with only 2 winners in 26 bets, he shows this is a long term game of hitting the big one.

Actually only had 4 winning payoffs, but found the missing one and added it in. You'll see it next time. It bumped you up to -0.39.

With only 9 days left in the season, Arletta is strolling to the championship. With no winners over the last week, she really lost little ground as Lava moves into second and gambling4ever, GPK, and knickslion round out the top five.

Last years winner Alabama Stakes joins Herkhorse popped their cherry with first winners.

Let me know if something is wrong with results, and you better make your move now cause this contest is coming down the stretch.

In related news Fulla Sheets set a new record today posting his winner within seconds of the "official sign" at the track.

The Bart when from out of it to almost breaking even.

As a group of those 40 players who posted a win, we're 124/743 for 16.7% winners with an average ROI of -0.44 (whesh!)

There's a whole bunch of people that have a lot of picks left so swing away and good luck.

I believe the upload problem has been fixed.

Does it show how much $$ we won because I don't see it.

I dont remember how much time to post there was when I posted my pick, but I posted at 4:48 and the chart says "OFF AT 4:56". 8 minutes can not be the record.

I will try to post sooner.

Hey Spyder in this sheet you have the number of my winning bets correct but are missing $52 (win 5/16). Every dollar counting now as its close especially since I had 2 more winners yesterday. Again thanks for all your hard work on this. It is the best contest around!

The race is on!

Knickslion rumbles to the lead with +0.49 11/35 with Arletta +0.43 8/36.
viscount +0.34 5/32, and The Bart +0.29 5/25.

Heels gets off the schnied with lots of bullets left for a two day shot fest.

Two more days of Saratoga, sad but looking forward to it!

FINAL RESULTS 2012: The Lion Roars.
Knickslion produces a ROI of 0.56 and comes on strong in the closing stages with viscount26 coming in second with 0.45. Arletta who toyed with field for much of the season mellowed into third with 0.43.

I'll get with Steve about some swag once he comes out of his Spa aftercoma. We'll give him some time to decompress!

Nine people out of about 40 produced a profit.

Attached please find final results, and if it works, the Top 20 from two previous years. I think 08 and 09. Interesting!

Hope you enjoyed the contest and your summer at the Spahhhhhh.

One rule change I am considering is double payout for the jumps! Suggestions welcome.
