probably a tongue in cheek reference to when obama said 'the private sector is doing fine'. yeah, just like today when i read that factory orders are down. it's why gas is down, very low demand.

"Republicans rush to thank Obama for lowing the price of gasoline ! "

Wait ... you mean, that after "Republicans rush to blame Obama for raising gasoline prices", they are not thanking him for this drop?

Strange, huh?

Yes, indeed, Virginia, there is an app ... I mean a right-wingnut conspiracy theory for that ...

You see, Obama and the middle east are in cahoots, with the middle east purposely agreeing in secret to drop oil prices before the election to get Obama re-elected. Then, after the election, Obama agrees to let them raise prices up to $8-$10 a gallon to make up their lost profit ;) It's all a secret, Muslim plan!

Va.'s economic health a tricky issue for Romney.

Quote:

Richmond, Va. --
If GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's greatest political strength is the nation's ailing economy, his greatest challenge in battleground Virginia could be the state's economic health.

With Romney campaigning across the country accusing President Barack Obama of mishandling the economy, his message could be undercut in swing states such as Virginia where things — comparatively, at least — really aren't so bad.

The situation is a tricky one for Republican governors who want to tout their state's successes without hurting Romney's prospects.

Gov. Bob McDonnell has happily made it known that Virginia's unemployment rate sits at 5.6 percent — the ninth-lowest in the nation. He aired an ad in April that touted the gains made in the state since he took office in 2010.

But, highlighting the balancing act, the Republican National Committee on Wednesday was using the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics to paint a gloomy picture for the state, blaming Obama.

Big, did you see a couple weeks ago, where Romney asked Florida Republican Governor Rick Scott to stop talking about how the Florida economy is improving?

When you are at rock bottom and approaching third world status throughout most of the state and many of the cities therein, your economy has nowhere to go but up. I am certain it has been federal policies that are saving the economy of Florida.

Still between 3.45 and 3.60 depending on where you are. We are normally on the cheaper end of things too.

Danzig 07-02-2012 03:35 PM

i saw 2.99 earlier.

and it's funny that people say oh, gas is down cause it's an election. if people would look, it's been said every election in recent memory!! either people just forget stuff, or don't pay attention, or perhaps a combo of both?

Antitrust32 07-02-2012 03:36 PM

3.15 - 3.21

Yeah right.

Yeah right.

i'd have to think it had more to do with gouging then that much increased demand, since it didn't create a long weekend. doubt there was that much extra travel, especially considering the many fireworks cancellations.

Unfortunately the fire works went on in the town I'm in (over the lake) and all the towns that did cancel showed up.

Mayberry can't handle Raleigh crowds and our Barney Fifes learned what NY gridlock means.

Gas prices

Trend was straight down to about the $3.12 level up until a couple of days ago, then a $.10 - $.15 upward spike to the $3.25 level. Did a tax kick in or something here?

Same exact thing here in Jax. .14 cents overnight to the $3.25 range. Of course when one big name jumps (Racetrack), everyone else follows suit shortly thereafter.

bigrun 07-07-2012 01:06 PM

Somebody playing games...overnite a 6c DROP to 3.09...:zz:

Gotta see my practologist next week, Dr Bennie Boombatz...I'm starting to enjoy my visits there, at least he's gentle...better than hitting the gas pumps..:D
