Animal Kingdom confirmed out of DWC

Appears Animal Kingdom will not go to Dubai. About to go on air. More as it comes available.

Bigsmc 03-12-2012 08:02 AM

As long as it is not a serious issue, that is great news.

MaTH716 03-12-2012 10:32 AM

Sorry to report that AK will not be making the trip to Dubai. He came out of his work sore in the same leg that he injured in the Belmont.

From Graham Motion on Twitter

Animal Kingdom: Out of Dubai World Cup

Sore in the same leg he injured in the Belmont, after his work this morning.

According to Graham Motion's twitter.

According to Motion's twitter account, he came out of the work sore in the same leg that was previously injured.

If Animal Kingdom is retired, I will quit horse racing and this will be my very last post.

Sounds like you don't want to post anymore.

His Belmont injury was anything but routine, if it's the source of his current issue, then he could very well be done.

He said the same about you. :p

Sorry he's injured, hope he'll be okay but yeah I'm happy he won't be making the trip.

I was thinking about the possible field for the DWC...

Is it me?

Isn't it lacking this year?

Not to sound like Alan or anything but ummm there are a couple of good ones pointed but the rest seem interchangeable.

Ha. I'd really be bummed if we lost Game On Dude.

I don't like any American horses in that race, Pat.

It's a long ship and the surface doesn't favor dirt horses.

Still a way out, but Game On Dude does seem to have a huge pace edge for now, especially considering the way the race has been run in recent years...we'll see.

Gee for someone who is usually so smart...

Of course i meant me. Duh. Now that you mention it though it does seem to be lacking.

If GOD goes (and i really couldn't care less cause he'll be off the board but if he does) do we have to start calling him Allah?

Huh?

There hasn't been a decent renewal since Pleasantly Perfect beat Medaglia D'Oro in 2004.

This year has So You Think and Royal Delta aside from the aforementioned Grade Two Dude.

And me.

Bad news: out 90 days. Good news: not the same injury as the Belmont. We could conceivably see him run in the Dubai World Cup next year if he's on his game enough in the fall.

If he does retire in September, it'd be kind of annoying for Barry to just sell him straight to Japan or Europe. Yeah, I get that it's a business, but you'd think they'd try to stand him in the US before looking overseas.

RolloTomasi 03-14-2012 01:06 PM

Hopefully, the pattern won't repeat with a bum rush towards the Breeder's Cup.

I'm more excited about Smart Falcon, Planteur and Cirrus des Aigles but still... not too damned excited at all.

my miss storm cat 03-15-2012 08:05 PM

This is too funny... John Moore might run Xtension in the World Cup instead of the Duty Free cause it's the softer option.

God I hope he does. That would be fantastic!
